Having had something where I’ve had issues breathing and even ended up sneaking a snort of the wife’s inhaler- I’m nearly ready to get back out there. I was running 25 k plus a week before the 6th April. What’s the best approach to getting back to running especially when the lungs may not be 100 per cent?

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.
You’ve only been out a couple of weeks, so your legs at least will have lost very little if anything. You’ve had something, maybe that thing, affecting your breathing, so it could be difficult to just go back to what you were doing. My route back would start with a short and deliberately slow run, say just go out and jog a slow 20 minutes, then I’d know better what I had in me. Any respiratory issue may be a setback, but gentle progression will soon have that side of things getting stronger again. Just go out and enjoy the fact that you’re running again... take it real easy every run... right now it’s probably the easiest part of our days.
Start from the beginning of C25K to build your lung strength again. See how you go with W1 R1 goes. If ok 👌 move to W2 R1 as your are previous 🏃♂️. Move up the Weeks until you are comfortable. But always listen to your body. Welcome back. Keep safe out there. And remember social distancing.
Sounds like you may have a bit of hayfever? Try some antihistamines... 😉
