What on earth was I thinking?! After all the running chat I had to get out there. Had the bright idea of running a different route without realising how uphill it was. I felt like I ran uphill at various gradients for most of the run π€π€π€ I had a 750m elevation gain! Omg I was so hot and can already feel my thighs are stiff before we even get to tomorrow. The stupid thing was I have actually done the beginning of that run before and not repeated it because it was so hard π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ Obviously blocked the pain of that one out too well π Oh well...onwards and (not) upwards...
Running up that hill...: What on earth was I... - Couch to 5K
Running up that hill...
Ooff! One plus to that, the next time you run on level ground itβll feel like a breeze!. Keep those post run stretches up to minimise the stiffness ππ
Stretch girl stretch!!! Sounds like hard going.... πββοΈπββοΈ Well done tho, think I would have turned around! β€οΈππ
wow! Well done!
Did you need crampons?
Oh dear Sarah! Talk about taking the bull by the horns and challenging yourself!! π¬ Well done for getting out. Sure youβll enjoy your next run more when you pick a flatter route. π x
Low and slow. Low and slow.
Well done for fighting on. Thatβs a huge elevation gain, no wonder it hurt. Recover well x
Can definitely feel the front of my thighs this morning! Trust me Jay i was slow ππππ
Ooh no! Iβve made that mistake too!! Running on the flat is more enjoyable for me ππ
Embrace those hills. Hills are good. Hills make us stronger. The Hills are alive..
But gently. Run a shorter hill session. 25mins with intervals. Walk when you need to. Patter up on your toes, don't lean back, go for a toe strike. It will pay off big time when you're on the flat.
Good for you for doing them Hills!! β€β€
I am totally with you. Embrace the hills when you have a planned hill repeat session. But my goal was just to have a nice 4k+ run in 30 mins π«
Trying to alter my route so I encounter some hilly areas to improve my stamina but they are killers for the thighs arent they. your next run on the flat will feel good.
Thatβs amazing - well done! I live in a hilly bit too (I feel like we may have had this conversation before π) and when I ran up a v steep one earlier this week I kept running back downhill a little bit to give my thighs a break but then went back up and further iykwim. I got the idea from a few articles I saw about hill training that mentioned it so perhaps something for next time? π
Well done you. Think I would just cry!! But think we can all block the pain out...it's just when it comes back to haunt us! Happy weekend ahead. πππ
Yikes!!!! I thought that my 153m altitude increase was a lot. My demanding hill is just a mere baby bump compared to your seriously adult bump! Well done you! How long was the run? You're a hill heroine! I have been having a little look to see if some one mentioned their altitude rise, southlundon did in reply to one of my posts and now you with a new hill standard. I am still in am in awe! Whenever you go up, you do have to come down again! Always reassuring. Well done you! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Just realised I misread my stats. The elevation increase was 750. Gain was 105. My bad. But it was still really really hard π
Increase sounds the same as gain to me, I'm seriously confused!! Completely confused! I thought this running business was just about outing one foot in front of the other!
