So I braved the great outdoors for my second run. I found myself stopping every time I saw a person, out of pure embarrassment really. Is that normal? I walked to a common near to where I live and did a bit more there, but still couldn’t cope with anyone seeing me! I ended up only doing about 5 mins’ as opposed to 8...so feel a bit of a failure:(

Not a failure by any means you did 5 mins wow. Just keep going do what you can. You will get more confidence. I bet most people where actually really impressed to see you out so don’t feel embarrassed. I am 53 and over 12 stone I go with my daughter who is 15. She’s off like a shot leaving me like an asthmatic pit pony running behind. Lol. Keep up the good work.

Bless you and thanks for the support. I am 54 and see myself as an elephant wading through treacle right now! So knowing people feel my pain really helps!!❤️

I’ve found myself stopping when I see people. Daft really as I always have admired those who run but I feel like I’m sounding like an unfit warthog and leaving some sort of mini earthquake in my path. I’m on week 2 run 1 today and hope very much I don’t see anyone. I do always pause it and carry on walking then start the run up again when they’ve gone past me. Hoping this feeling embarrassed will soon go when I can run faster than a sloth. GOOD LUCK.

Hya whippety1, great name btw, nah..you're not alone there.it IS wierd at first but hey..after week 6 you are a runner and you don't feel strange. You are starting something new...that's OK. No one is judging you. I felt wierd stopping after 1 minute ..but grateful. It helps to have headphones and feel I look the part in trainers. Not so strange to see someone running in trainers. At first I was embarrassed by how many real runners ran past me but now I'm fine.that's them- this is me. You are doing fine .Try not to think about other people.

Hey there, first of all good on you, you’ve not failed, what ever you do it’s a good start, keep going.

I did my first C25K this morning, I am a very big girl (probs over 19 stone) in my late 40’s. I’m very embarrassed about all my joogly bits in front of others, but I did do it this morning, ( and went past people)

I put my sons wireless headphones on and music, so it kinda takes ur mind off what’s around you. I felt I failed as I only did my 5 min warm up, a run, 90 seconds walk and a second run, I really struggled on my second run, so I gave up, I still had 17 mins left to do. I’m hoping I keep up this will power I have just now. Good luck to you to.XX
