For all you Treadmill haters/bashers out there

This is dedicated to you... because I know you'd *always* chose to run 180 laps of a terrace for 45 mins, rather than run on a treadmill ;-) *

So when you find yourself in Spain, under *total* lockdown, then needs must.

* or maybe you wouldn't.

But I know which I prefer ... and it's definitely NOT this.

SEND TREADMILL PLEASE!

Congratulations on that run, it MAY not be too long before some of the lockdown in Spain in partially lifted.

thanks - looking like 6 May at the earliest.

I used the word may as might rather than the month of May, however, as you say it might be the 6th of May when some of the lockdown restrictions will be lifted, 🇪🇸 Spain and 🇮🇹 Italy are around 3 weeks earlier than the 🇬🇧 UKmeaning that it won't be until the end of May before some of the lockdown is relaxed here in The UK 🇬🇧

Hat's off to you sir!! I'd have melted or self combusted or tragically both, definitely after enduring much scratchy prickly heat 😂

heat isn;t so bad. But thank goodness for podcasts. I'd much rather do a long treadmill run any day of the week.

I'm good with a treadmill having used one years ago👍 but run outdoors now.

Even getting a treadmill in the UK is hard at the moment, as soon as Boris shut the gyms etc they sold like hot cakes 🙃

Have done allot of running in the past and you cant beat the grate outdoors with all its interest and surprises wind and weather. Got to take your point on the present situation that looks looks a very slippery hard surface to pound some miles on. hope your shoes have plenty of cushioning and anti slip grip.

Well done for keeping it up in lockdown! Looks like you have the sun shining on that terrace too. Lovely!

Well this was a very stupid thing to do.

After finally being allowed out for exercise and doing some very modest jog/walk outings for 4 weeks afterwards, my left knee was in a world of difficulty. No running for 8 weeks until today.

I was very worried at one point that I'd permanently damaged my knee. but an MRI scan showed an inflamed bursa on inside of left knee (very happy it found something acute) which will settle down eventually (but a steroid injection will help it along) but more importantly no permanent damage and that the knee is 'inherently sound' and nothing to indicate I should stop any activities.

Not bad for a knee that's done 3000 miles of running in 5 years. Just shows that running isn't necessarily bad your knees... it's the decision-making of the knee owner that invariably causes problems!

All consistent with running around in a tight space like I was stupidly doing. At least 3000 'laps', minimum of 6000 turns over 4 weeks. A completely different motion to anything I was used to. Idiot.

A treadmill (or no running) would have been far better! But I was too keen not to disrupt my comeback that was coming along nicely. So now, yet another comeback - my 4th in the last 14 months.

Idiot.

Won't be doing terrace-running again. Ever.

So anyone treadmill-bashers out there... please... needs-must sometimes.

They have their place.

I LOVE TREADMILLS.

When this correspondence appeared I thought I’d gone into a time warp. Total lockdown in Spain?? Then I saw the original timeline.

I loathe treadmills. Unless I could run with a view of hills, sunshine and clouds, cows, sheep and rabbits (plus the appropriate manure smells) I can’t see the point.

We’re about to leave for the deep South of France and are prepared for our regular trips over the border into Catalonia to be called off. Also prepared to be forced into quarantine when we get back. Might have to buy a bloody treadmill!! 😢

Lol :)

Treadmill hates ME! 😂

only ran twice on one, literally peed blood afterwards.

Doc reckonefd "internal bladder abrasion from all the movement"

I remember laughing when our old Drill Sgt used to threaten he'd March us into we "p---f blood" - now I'm doubly grateful I was "Seconded" to my Unit BEFORE the running part :)

Better to be born lucky than good - but "connections' Trump all lol

Hope the times passed quick for you John, but at least you're not stuck in Mogadishu or Cartagena...or even worse, Bellmullet 😂

Ha! Nice reply John.

I'm good thanks, been back in Liverpool since early July and keeping fitness going by other means.

Did a kind of W1R1 thing today and went ok.

Onwards!

Liverpool is on my list :) So many emigrated there from my old Parish, it's popularly known as "Little Ireland" :)
