Hi, my first post and I'm loving all the info on here, but I can't find much about getting a treadmill. For various reasons, I'm not in a position to run outside at the moment, so I'm thinking about investing in a treadmill. However, there are so many options on the market that I'm getting bamboozled by it all. It needs to be folding, so I can get it out of the way when I'm not using it, and it needs to have variable inclines. Can anyone help me choose one? I'm in the UK. Thanks.

Searching for a treadmill
A lot of course will depend on your budget.
Folding machines tend to be a little more expensive than the equivalent non folder .
You also mentioned inclines , well again , depends on what you want .
If you are wanting automatic inclined then again you are talking about a significant increase in cost as these machines need a 2nd motor .
So I think really knowing a bit more about what you want will help .
You can pay many thousands of pounds for a gym standard treadmill, or you can pay a few hundred pounds for something that will get you running at home .
Personally, I much prefer running outside and my treadmill is there only for when I can't do that , so I do not need an expensive machine .
Mine is a folding machine and it has manual incline settings and it's current price is around £300.
It has 12 preset programs which I never use and I also find calibration of my running watch with the treadmill gives totally false results .
To the extent that I then bought another device to turn what is effectively a 'Dumb' treadmill into a 'Smart' treadmill that will transmit accurate data to my watch and also Zwift if I wanted it to .
The only other advice I can give is do lots of research as what suits one may not suit you .
Here is mine . amzn.eu/d/7Epw1OQ
Good luck
Thanks for all the info! I'm tossing up between yours and one for £450 but they need some thinking about. 😃
hello can i ask what you bought to turn your treadmill into smart from dumb please
Hello, GrumpyOldJogger just popping in to say I like your user name! 😆 I can't help with the treadmill but it looks like there's lots of good info above from Instructor57 . Welcome to the board.
Beware the folding treadmills which don't fold much! I bought one at the start of the first lockdown, but got rid of it about 3 months later as it was a monster! Good luck.
Problem is if its compact and easy to store, it is a bit narrow and , if you are as clumsy as me, you will probably go off the side! We got a refurbished Kettler Atmos, which we like. It will fold but is too wide to get through a normal door as it was packed and does rather dominate the lounge! I suspect a new one would come in smaller pieces. If folded it takes up less space but does rather tower over us. There are plenty of smaller ones if you are sure footed and perhaps do not intend to run that fast.
