My first post (only lurked up to now), but this morning I did week 9 run 3 and even ran for an extra 5 mins to complete the full 5K 😊

Never would have believed I’d be able to run this far - I’d always hated it, but after losing 3st with Slimming World I started this in January (when I thought I’d die after running for one minute) and now I can run a full 5K. I repeated week 3 and week 4 once each, which really helped.

Got to keep it up now - on to consolidation πŸ˜„

Thank you everyone so much for your lovely comments!

Just a bit of background, I had treatment for a rather nasty stage 3 breast cancer nine years ago and put on a lot of weight. I still take a daily pill to prevent recurrence. Last year I finally managed to shed 3 st with the help of Slimming World, so just after my 54th birthday in December I decided it was time to finally bite the bullet and get fit. I started in January because it was dark most of the time, and drove somewhere to run so nobody would see me. I'm now perfectly happy to run through the middle of our village (where pretty much everyone knows who I am) in broad daylight.

In January I was about as unfit as it's possible to be, but this morning I ran 4.3k in 30 minutes, then reached 5k in 35.

So keep on going, you'll get there!
