This affects runners; too many people were flouting the social distancing rules so it seems like a sensible compromise (in my opinion) instead of going on maximum lockdown. What are your thoughts? Do you see the UK following suit?
"... Officials in Paris have now banned people from running between the hours of 10am and 7pm.
Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo and the chief of police said the new jogging rules would make people exercise "when the streets are generally at their quietest".
Just hours after the announcement of the Paris rule, five départements in the greater Paris area announced that they would be following suit...."
Works for me as I go out evenings normally. I don't think runners are flouting rules necessarily but have heard people on news complaining about joggers running up behind them unawares and breathing heavily. I guess lots of us a nervous right now and if it puts folks at ease it can't be a bad thing
I think it's more groups of folks flouting the rules and then saying they are only out for their exercise... but only just happen to be stripped down, sunbathing and carrying a BBQ!
Seems fair enough. With this warm weather they've still left people able to run in the most comfortable times of day.
I have been really worried that the idiots hanging out in groups will bring some sort of exercise ban. If this sort of compromise had to be imposed in the UK, at least we could keep running and maintain safety.
I'm also worried that they might target runners. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, with good reason. Every time i go for a run I see at least two instances of runners breezing closely past walkers in the park. It's definitely better than it was though and i would say that those plonkers are definitely in the minority. There are a few folk strolling about oblivious as well!
