I joined a bootcamp a couple of years ago which involved driving to different places to run, doing exercises first (I hate planks!), and getting up way too early on a Saturday. Two days before my final run I hurt my achilles tendon and never got to graduate. And it was not cheap.
This time I am using an app that follows the NHS schedule (with my own music), follow the post-run stretches on the NHS site, wear podiatrist prescribed orthotics in my shoes, and am careful about pacing...
Today I achieved my final W9 R3 graduation run! It was a gorgeous sunny day so I pushed further and kept running through my cool down period. Somehow managed 6.3km so taking away to initial 5 minutes of walking I think I can say I ran 5k today! Am totally addicted and love having the extra energy and physical perseverance when I am doing things in the garden. And also cool to have something to chat about with my 16 year old son. Thanks team, never been fitter in my life, and now I might have to stop sneering at "crazy runners jogging in the rain" as I think I am now one of them.
