Struggling at the moment with the current situation in the country and can’t seem to get motivated

In a rut
I know what you mean ... it feels like we are stuck in a time warp... it’s a time of readjustment ... I am trying to focus on keeping as fit as I can with my mindset .. but it’s not easy! Working through theC25K is my focus at the moment ... with a healthy eating plan as well... I have just repeated W5R3 again and didn’t have a good run at all .. not sure why but it is all a mind game and have decided just to repeat the run yet again day after tomorrow and not to focus on the time I am running but to try and empty my mind and keep putting one foot in front of the other .. how ever slow!
Once go out run. Ignore for session for the moment. Just get outside.
Put your running gear on but go out for a walk, I bet you will end up running.
The main thing to get you going is to go outside the house.. Try it!
You’re far from alone with this. Have a look at the Strength & Flex forum... there’s loads of workouts and ideas to keep your fitness rising indoors... a daily fix of endorphins may be just what you need!
It is very difficult at the moment and lots of us are, I think, feeling the same. We could all say 'just get out there and do it' but it's not quite as simple as that we're locked down and maybe a bit fearful too.
I would just say try to get out if you can - maybe when it warms up a bit on a couple of days? It would be a shame not to consolidate what you've achieved.
Take care and stay safe - maybe we'll get a bit more used to it all and manage to get out running.
Have empathy with the feelings you describe. I’m in need of a lifestyle change to improve my fitness and I admit, self esteem. If you don’t feel good about yourself it colours everything you do.
In Sunday Times yesterday top of page 2 - Stark comment to start “For the obese or unfit the virus is more likely to be fatal”. Goes on to say “ Almost everyone is likely to be infected and getting fit is one of the best ways to prepare.” “Start by walking. You should feel comfortable but like you’ve had some action. In two weeks you will have an improved capacity. “.
Also, “Losing weight not only reduces symptoms of diabetes but also increases lung volume”
Seems to me the C25K regime is spot on for progressing safely. You can do this. No shame in repeating runs if you need to. Every step taken is progress to maybe short term survival or longer term health benefits. There is no downside; the buzz of achievement is addictive and a great morale booster. My fear of the virus is being diminished and my fitness is improving. Hard sometimes but so worthwhile. Look forward to seeing how you get on.
Best wishes.
