Walking instead of always running

Good morning all. I have not run at all this week. I love walking (a little more than running) especially at this time of year and so I have decided that I would rather use my time out to walk for 1-2 hours rather than a 30 minute run. I will aim to do one run a week though. Does this sound reasonable? BTW I’m at week 7 so far. I also do yoga and Pilates and am contemplating trying Joe Wicks for some more cardio.

Enjoy whatever you do outside people. This is going to be a long haul 🙏🏃🏻‍♀️

Do whatever suits you.

Three runs per week is considered the optimal regime for new runners to maintain progress, but doing extra strength and cardio training alongside your running will be hugely beneficial.

As you say, this is for the long haul........there is no rush.

I reckon do what you feel like Minsy, sounds like a reasonable balance you've got there, to me. I have graduated c25k, got my running established....then had a long break because of a still undiagnosed chest condition that basically knocked me on my a***...... anyway, I've recently started again, very slowly, at week one, I'm just taking it as I feel it....yesterday, I had technical issues, missed a couple of run prompts......thought 'oh well' I'm out here I'm moving, I'm looking after myself........do what you need to do, look after yourself 😊

Thank you 😀

Hello Missy, Yes, there are difficult choices to make and for some time to come, it’s even difficult to know how long to spend outside whether it’s a walk or a run, but as you say important that we enjoy our time outside as much as we can, do what we can to stay fit and healthy and stay safe. Looks like you have a very good balance there 🤗

At the moment Mindy, I think we have to do what suits us best. It sounds as though you have a good plan there.
