I never liked running even as a kid. As an adult I was overweight and out of shape and running just wasn't something I could do. But last year I had a gastric bypass and it really changed my life. I lost 75 pounds and decided to finally try to run! And I am! Just not very fast. I completed the C25K program but am only running 1.5 miles in 30 minutes. I want to eventually run a real 5K so I need to be a little faster. So my main goal now is to increase my pace. I've only been running for a few months so I suppose it'll take some time. But just knowing that yes I really can run now is such a great feeling!
Running was always just a dream.: I never liked... - Couch to 5K
Running was always just a dream.
Big congrats on your weight loss and on graduating sounds like you are one determined lady
You have had such a journey. Well done and keep going, you can achieve what ever you put your mind too!!
Hi there and well done on making those changes in your life. I was out running yesterday and wondered why I had left it so late. I could have been running for years by now if I had only got started on it earlier.
Congratulations on graduating Now you need to collect your snazzy and well deserved graduation badge. When you feel ready for a challenge, have a look at the c25k+ podcasts. I do the stamina one once a week. There's also one for speed but I haven't tried it yet.
Try the Speed one.. it's fun... well I think so..
I've just read speed is a 16 min run, alternating fast and slow sections. So do you just run for 16 min or do you tack a slow run on the end?
Laura takes you through it. A lot like c25k week1 but instead of running then recovery walking sections you run fast recover by jogging slowly. Looks, and is, short time wise but it's a good intense workout which along with stamina will get your speed up.
Thanks Annie, I do stamina once a week, I'll try speed tomorrow. Want to join me invirginia?
I'm having minor surgery tomorrow and will have to take a week off, but I'll be back next week!
Hope the surgery went well. I tried the speed podcast and I think it's quite good. I'll post about it later.
Well done you... get that badge!!!!
Congratulations. As Floss says don't forget to request your badge.
Oh my goodness, I just realized that your group is in the UK! I'm in the U.S.! But, running and the struggles with running are sort of universal aren't they? Do you mind if I stay with this group?
This is a great community, full of lots of helpful advice so definitely stick around and join in the chatter 😀
