I’ve read the guidance on gov.uk and anticipating getting the “stay at home for 12 weeks” letter. I was going to go out yesterday, but we live opposite a country park, and the village was swarming with people. It is busy generally on non school days, but yesterday was crazy. It would have been impossible to stay 2 metres away from all people, so decided not to risk it.
I’ve got plenty of fitness dvd’s, Amazon Prime for fitness videos, YouTube, so I’m going to try to build up some stamina and strength for when we are allowed out again.
I’ve also got a hula hoop which has been gathering dust, so I had a go with that yesterday - very funny! I’ve also ordered a skipping rope, which appear to be in short supply, so if you want to get fitness gear in your homes you need to do it asap, for when we get locked down.
Husband has gone back to work after 7 day self isolation which was most likely a cold, but he comes home at the weekend, so can’t avoid that I’m afraid - we can only do what we can.
I dabble with art, so I’ll do some of that to relieve the boredom.
Enjoy the running whilst you still can, and take care everybody 😘

I started my 12 weeks last week, but being allowed out for exercise helps with the boredom.
I'm hoping I don't get a letter as being indoors for three months under strict isolation will drive me up the wall.
I know I shouldn't, but am actually considering returning to work since most people have now been sent home (I'm a key worker). I'm luckier than most in that I'm getting full pay no matter what I decide.
🤔
Hula Hoop.. I tried it once with my wife's. I nearly put my back out, and died of embarrassment. I hope hers is at the tip 😁
Take care Wenderwoo and do what is right for you . It's a shame, we are being told to stay 2 meters away from others and some people don't give a s***.
if you're a night owl and your area is safe, you could maybe get out for some fresh air and/or a run by going early in the morning or late at night - I don't know how feasible that is for you, but it's just a thought - in "normal" times, I used to run at 5am to avoid most traffic (we have hardly any pavements where I live) and there are a lot less people
Take care wenderwoo people are not taking any advice from the government , I will still run until they stop me as I run on my own but young people don’t think 🤔 happy training
I too have a couple of hula hops. I took up hoop dancing a few years ago and got here I could do quite a few tricks. It’s a pretty good all body workout when you get going. The first class I went I I was so determined not to be the fat old lady in the corner who couldn’t do it, that I actually was the first to manage to get the hoop to stay up and then she taught us lots of things like, hooping in the other direction which is weird, swapping from one direction to the other and back again, walking forwards and backwards while hooping, hand hooping and dropping the hoop down and up the body while still keeping it moving, the Elevator, etc. ...I’d forgotten how many tricks I CAN do ... hmm must get that hoop out again...
Gutted for you, but you’re doing the right thing. Are you in the Strength & Flex group too? Wishing you all the best, I will be doing my very best to do the right thing too and protect others in the community by sticking to the rules. Stay safe x
I am in the Strength and Flex group, but haven’t been there much - I spend to much time on C25K group as it is! But I’ll hop over there as well now. I’ve been working on a plan this afternoon..... 🤔
Just got my text for 12 weeks shielding. No going out the front of the house even! So the back garden is my friend. Thank goodness the weather is improving. I’m getting the hula hoop down tomorrow! Should be a laugh! Did 30 minutes HIIT on my spin bike this morning.
Going to be tough but if we want to get through this safe and well then needs must. I think my knitting projects are going to get finished sooner than I expected. Hope my supplier can keep me stocked with wool 😉. Stay safe.
I got “the text” lunchtime - no going out at all, more info to follow. I had a right face on, more through fear I think, it’s a pretty stark warning. But husband rang me and made me feel a bit better, and I’ve been thinking of a plan to exercise in the garden - I even did 10 laps running round the outside of the house - maybe some sort of circuit training 🤔
Oh wow, Wenderwoo. I am sorry to hear this but of all people you can do this. You are motivated and are so good at motivating others.
Can you post under a specific heading - Isolation Fitness Fun? I believe someone ran a marathon on a balcony. So many of us would love to read what you have planned and support you. Digital hugs.
I saw that about the guy running a marathon on his balcony. I think that’s what inspired the running round the outside of the house thing! I have a few ideas, so watch this space 😁
Take care Wenderwoo and chin up! That's all we can do. I'm sure you will do loads of exercise at home and even after 12 weeks it won't take long to get back on it. You never know, maybe you will be able to run outside as long as the hoards of people stay away. People seem to be being more sensible today after all the warnings!
Thanks, I’ve had the text now. Not supposed to go out at all. I’m working on an outdoor circuit trading plan - I even tried out 10 laps around the outside of the house 🤣. Needs must and all that 🙂
Take care Wenderwoo, you know it's the right thing to do. I'm fortunate to be able to work from home but now also home-schooling two young teens. We did get out for a walk yesterday but my challenge is to get them away from their phones after school work is done, and out on the trampoline or similar, whilst also trying to get through my own work. I'm sure we've got some hula hoops hidden away somewhere, so thanks for the reminder to dig them out, we'll have trim waists in no time
