Trying this to also remain sane after wfh!

Hi, I am central London so don’t know if you are anywhere near! I am starting this challenge tomorrow as I have been recently laid off so while this whole virus is going around I thought I would actually do some exercise, otherwise might end up the size of a house! Good luck to everyone and I will motive myself to finish this, well to even make sure I start!

Thank you! I am hoping that yes it will keep me motivated even if that means I will be sore for a couple of days afterward but shall persevere! Have you completed the 9 weeks?

in reply to cristina2003225

I have been running for years so I'm not for doing the course. I'm out with an injury at the minute anyway so can't even if I wanted too 🙄

Do your stretches and it will help with the soreness.

Have a good first run tomorrow! My first run was a big deal for me, but it was doable!

Was sore the day afterwards, but allowed my rest day to help me recover. By week 2 the muscle pain was gone, so don't worry about it!

Hello! How many weeks into the challenge have you done? I am actually scared of doing it tomorrow as I have always dreaded running! Thank you for your lovely messages and for the support!

Don't dread it.......it is an amazing programme and it is impossible to fail.......unless you head back to the couch for good.

Running was such a solace to me when I lost my job last May; it gave me purpose and something positive to focus on. So good for you - this is something you can totally do, and it will really help with mental health and self esteem too. We as a community will be cheering you on! So do check in with us regularly. All the best to you! 👏👏👏

Thank you Sadie! That is a lovely message from you! Don’t think I have ever done any running in my life even to get to the bus! Just always dreaded it! Again I will start and persevere and you are right, it will help with self esteem and will stop me from going insane! How are you doing and have you completed your 9 weeks?

Oh you are welcome. 😘 I completed the programme around 2.5 years ago - and have been running ever since! I graduated when I was 46, and hadn’t run since my teens prior to that, so VERY unfit. Now I think I am fitter in my 40s than I was in my 20s! Running brings me joy and a peace of mind. 😊 Perserverance is definitely key, and faith in the programme. It really does work if you just stick with it, and be sensible. Slow slow running is very important - it builds stamina and confidence. Look forward to following your journey. 😁

Also, have a read of this basic guide to C25K - great info here. 😁

Great decision to start the programme. It really works. (from someone who had a problem walking for the bus before C25K). OK I am exaggerating a little bit. Certainly couldn't run a step.

You can definitely do this, there will no doubt be times when you doubt it but you CAN do it.

I graduated at the weekend and still can't believe it, when I started the very first run I struggled so much but trusted in the plan and just took it one run at a time.

And the running definitely helps with the gremlins and lets you clear your mind.

Keep posting on here to let us know how you are getting on, this forum is full of wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly people who will be with you every step of the way.

Take care, stay positive, keep smiling and happy running 👍🏃💪❤️

I started C25k in January and graduated at the end of February. I’m now running 5k, 3 times a week - never thought that would be possible a few months ago. As all my other fitness dance classes are shutting down running will be the only way I keep fit. Hope you enjoy your first running session and even if it’s hard I’d advise you to keep at it. I’m really glad I did.

Hi, I can honestly say this programme is brilliant! If I could give one piece of advice it would be to take time to do some stretches after your run. It will help with any aches and pains. I scrimped on my stretches a couple of times and I really paid for it the next day! Good luck and keep posting on here everyone is so encouraging 😁
