New to this! Challenging myself to stay sane while having to work from home

Is anyone else starting C25K to keep them sane while on enforced home working? I’m going to do my first day tomorrow (or today?) and it would be great to share the journey with someone else!

I'm several weeks ahead of you, but I'll read your progress with interest. 😊

The biggest step is the first.

I'm following the process, and a terrific process it is. I hadn't run in 40 years and the 'build-up' after a few staggering starts has taken me through to 'Week 8' 28 minute running. I find it a highly motivational and accessible programme.

You're in the right place for support. What an adventure you are embarking upon. Lots of water, rest days between runs and slow and steady are top tips. If you keep at it and follow the plan you will be celebrating Run 3 in Week 9 and it is such a tremendous feeling. We're all behind you! Good luck.

Welcome to the forum - what a positive decision to make during these very uncertain times! Do read our 'How to Run Couch to 5k' post which you can find on the homepage - full of lots of useful information and tips.

My top tip would be to remember that pace is NOT important! 🙂At this stage it's about completing all the running intervals - pace will increase naturally later. If it feels too hard...slow down!

Good luck and let us know how you get on. This is a great place to share your journey and pick up tips from others who are also working through the program, as well as others who have gone on to find running becomes a big part of their life! 😀🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏻Be warned - it is addictive! Good luck! 👍🙂

This is a great idea during this difficult time (well it's a great idea at any time). Keeping fit is good for your immune system and your mental health. I work at home quite a lot of the time and having running in my schedule definitely helps. Good luck and keep dropping in here, it's a lovely, supportive forum :)

Well done for starting. We might all be pretty much locked down soon, so let's hope we're allowed out to exercise! Glad to Have you on board and I'm sure there will be lots of people just starting out on the forum. But all of us can support everyone here at the moment!

Well done for starting!

As others have said, slow and steady, as your body gets used to it and your lungs adjust to the breathing.

Ensure you have a rest day in between your runs, any sore muscles will need time to recover.

Good luck! :)

I started to stay sane while wfh as well. Usually enjoy but not today legs felt like lead.
