Are you thinking of starting c25k.

Running can help with weight loss as long as you are mindful of what you eat. Also being outside and exercising will really lift your mood , I promise .

C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 🎅🎅

I cant say I'm an expert here, but if the driver for doing C25k is to lose weight, then I'd say throw your scales away.

It wasnt particular my driver, but I did find that in the early weeks, I actually gained a couple of pounds.

My advice would be to measure inches and, if you have a full length mirror, take a photograph of yourself now and repeat that when you finish the program. Your weight might stay the same, but the difference in body shape will be noticeable. Plus, you'll be so much fitter.

The only other things I'd say, is that this is absolutely the wrong time of year to worry about weight. Too many tempting treats and big meals to be had. It's just doubling the pressure and stress on yourself.

Enjoy the festive period, dont worry about it and then start the new year with renewed energy to do this program, cut out the bad foods and watch the inches (not weight) drop away!

I agree with Runningmigster. On week 6, run 2 but decided at the start to not measure success by weight loss. Nice side effect if it happens but to me it’s about getting fitter. Maybe that was the key. Having never understood why people run, I’m really enjoying it. I think having the app and seeing progress really helps. I know it might not really count doing it on treadmill but I live in the middle of nowhere where street lights don’t exist. Can’t wait until the lighter mornings !

It does count to do it on the treadmill, I’ve done most of mine inside because of cold, icy conditions.

I’ve tried several runs outside when the weather was ok and it’s not too dissimilar.

Any running helps improve fitness.

Welcome to the forum and well done

on posting here........the first step

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Running for thirty minutes is unlikely to make you lose weight without addressing your diet, but as you get fitter and more toned you will feel better about yourself and will want to make more positive changes.

C25k works......do it.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi, welcome to the forum x

C25K is a fabulous plan, it will help with self esteem, mental wellbeing and fitness levels. It will help with weight loss but only alongside a sensible diet. Note a sensible diet! None of that fad stuff.

I recommend you join the weight loss group on health unlocked as they are best placed to help with that aspect.

On C25K we can champion you through the plan. There will be highs, there will be lows but we will cheer or pick you up as necessary x

The feeling of accomplishment each week is amazing. Go for it!

A number of folk on here did pre C25K prep by building up to brisk walking 30 mins 3 x per week. This may be worth considering if you think you are very unfit. If you do the prep please post about about it.

We are here when you are ready. Good luck x

Sorry to hear that, and I hope you feel better soon. There's some great advice in the replies above, so just to add that c25k will really help to boost your mood.

Just getting out, three times a week and following the programme made me feel so much more positive. Even if you don't feel like it, put your trainers on and go - your mood will lift. Good tunes will help too

And do it at your own pace, you can repeat weeks if you need to - I did. good luck, let us know how you get on!

You’ve started your journey by connecting to this fantastic forum & app. You may struggle mentally & physically & it may take longer than 9weeks but that’s ok. The rewards & benefits on your journey will outweigh everything else. You will get amazing positivity, care, support & encouragement from strangers who you’ll think of as friends! Trust in the program, took me 3 attempts to complete & graduate. On my 3rd attempt I used the forum & connected with likeminded people, it made a huge difference.

Above all enjoy yourself, embrace the change & accept you are going to do this & you’re going to let these amazing people into your life. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year
