Diabetic and running?

Quick question for any one who runs or knows someone who runs with T1 or T2 diabetes.

Now I am up to the 30 minutes running what changes to my type 2 diabetes can I expect to see? What changes have you seen? Good or bad, I would like to know, I know that I will now need to pay extra attention to my feet and any change there especially needs an eye kept on.

What effect on blood sugar, and your HBA1C? I am hoping running is going to have a positive effect on this part of my life, though this is not my only reason for taking up this new lifestyle, I will be interesting to here what I can expect short to long term. I will not be giving up running as long as the medical professionals say I am ok to do it.

On a sub note that I have not mentioned before, because I know the risks, is I have a curvature of the spine, probably due to being born with hip displaced, has caused me back pain in the past but after 50 years I know what I can and can't do, and too be honest over the past 8 weeks it has not been an issue, I see no reason either that it should.

But the diabetes is my main thing, it is something I can control and need to, to live the best life I can.

We have had many new runners becoming declassified as pre diabetic after running for a while and a handful of T2 runners who also became clear of the condition.

Based on my experience of my father who was a type 1 diabetic most of his life, carrying some glucose tablets with you at all times when exercising may be a good habit, although I have to admit, he has been dead for 20 years, so the advice may well be different now.

The research is much the same after 20 years, more is understood now on reversal of type 2, when diagnosed doing my own research and then going on NHS held courses, I found they are a few months behind on recommendations, this is by no way a knock on the NHS, they need new ideas and treatments to be tested before giving that advise out to us,

My wifes farther was type 1 also and a double amputee, so very aware of the bad effects diabetes can have on the body. I believe getting diagnosed with type 2 would have saved my life, my dad had a heart attack at 61 and died two weeks later, so my diagnosis made me look at my life as a whole, allowing me to change by force, making me live a healthier lifestyle. Looking forward to running from here on in, should be on prescription.
