I badly sprained my ankle about 30 years ago (young! Dumb & drunk!! 😒) it gave way on my last run and it’s done it again on W2R2!! even though Iv strapped it up! Do I need physio or can I do some strengthening exercises at home?? I’m not letting my ankle stop me!

I fractured my ankle june2018 and bought myself a wobble board for rehabilitating it once I felt stronger - worked a treat

Wobble board?! I’ll have a look at one of those....don’t sound good but if it works then I’ll try anything. Thankyou

I was a bit nervous on it at first but it definitely helped I was back running as good as ever within 3 months and my chiropractor says the ankle is stronger than before.

If you are careful it will get better, and you can do strengthening exercises at home, but if you can, I would see a sports physio. They can give you targeted exercises, and you won't be making things worse by potentially doing the wrong exercises. I thought I'd sprained my foot, but I had actually damaged the nerve, and it was the physio who diagnosed it. It's finally healing now. Best of luck, the runs will wait for you while your foot heals.

It’s only gives way when it’s cold! Iv tried wrapping it, taping it, little exercise on it n it still gave way! 😢

That's so frustrating for you! Have a think about a physio (get a recommendation if you can) but if that's not possible, then some exercises to strengthen it should help. Just had s thought, have you had gait analysis to make sure you've got the right running shoes? The wrong type of shoe can cause all sorts of trouble.

Unfortunately my ankle can go in any shoes I wear! I can be walking down road wearing flip flops and it goes! I wish I had broken it all those years ago than a sprain! It prob would’ve made a 100% recovery! I’m hoping when weather warms up itl be fine but in mean time I’m hoping either physio or strengthening could help

🤞 keeping them crossed for you ( I've got an old ankle injury, it's the gift that keeps on giving 🙄)

Let us know how you get on.
