A challenging journey but worth it

Hi. I’ve been doing this challenge since the beginning of the year. I’ve had no experience in running and dont enjoy sport but decided to give it a go. I won’t lie, it was a struggle to begin with but I persevered and have made amazing progress completing every run however suddenly out of nowhere I found that I had to stop after 18 minutes into my 3rd 25 minute run. I just couldn’t do it and this really knocked my confidence. However I gave myself a good talking to and last night managed to run another 25 minutes. What a relief! This challenge is fantastic and I’m now looking forward to my first 28 minute run tomorrow for week 8. Really chuffed with myself 😊 Good luck to everyone who is doing this with me. Love reading your posts!

Lovely post! Yep, we all have 'those' runs sometimes and it's about how we learn to respond to them I guess. You did the right thing and moved on to the next one with a positive mindset, so well done! Good luck with your 28 mins tomorrow too!💪👍🙂

Well done, keep us posted on your next runs 👍😁

Well done. Love reading reports like this because it's a challenge and it's most definitely a journey. If it happens again just really, really slow down and breathe deeply and reset. It's very much a mental thing. Look forward as you run. Chin off of your chest. I don't always enjoy the run but the satisfaction and euphoria after is my buzz. You'll get there!! Look at 'The Run Experience' on YouTube for great advice in so many areas if you need any extra motivation.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

Enjoy your journey.

Nice post and great job. Runs are all different, and sometimes even the best runners struggle. What counts is writing it off and coming back again for the next one. Enjoy that week 8

We all have runs like that sometimes. Don't dwell on them. You just have to chalk them up to experience and move on. Sounds like you have. 😃
