So starting again. Got my running trainers and as birthday coming up I’m asking for better ones. See pic of shoes I have. Asking you all for best running shoes for pounding the pavements as I don’t want injury again. Under £75 if possible! Thanks in advance.

No one shoe will suit everyone. What is right for me will not be right for you. If I was you and thinking about taking up running long term please see below. This is just my personal advice. But do get a Gait analysis done in a dedicated specialist running shop.

1. Forget about everything else, running shoes are the most important purchase you can make. They are not a fashion accessory. I wear my running shoes for about 800 Km’s of running, approx. 1 year for me. I only wear them for running.

2. When going for your gait analysis, go to an independent specialist running shop. The people working there will be dedicated and passionate runners themselves. They will be highly experienced and will take their time with you. Do not go to a high street sports shop for gait analysis.

Once you are advised on which range of shoes suit you, you can then select the most comfortable pair. The next time you can purchase the same model online if you want. Although I always buy at the same shop where I bought my own shoes. You don’t save too much and the advice is priceless.
