Self flagellation might just do it

Well. I've downloaded the C25K app, and now need some extra motivation to pull on my trainers and have a go. But... the weather is just awful. My job entails working outdoors, and my homelife is all about lots of warmth lol. The sun is expected to peek from behind the misery that storm Ciara brought us around noon today, so maybe a little self flagellation will spur me on. Wish me good luck because I'll need it. The last time I ran was when I was 16 - that's, um... 36 years ago. I don't expect this to go very well. Mind you, I do a lot of dog walking, and am not overtly overweight, so I might surprise myself. Fingers crossed that I don't let myself down.

Well done for making two life changing decisions, starting C25K and joining this community, you won't regret either (but may briefly question them from time to time!) Getting yourself out this for the first time is the hardest bit, but once you've passed that you will be on your way. Have a read through the other posts on here and see the advice that's already been given, that should stand you in good stead. Enjoy every moment of it and make sure to let us know how you're getting on, this is a caring, sharing community.

Ha, enjoy your running journey you are about to change

Go slow I know you can probably go fast but not for one minute

Our first run nearly finished is off, after 45 seconds Willow was bent double gasping for breath and my breathing was so loud it scared us both 😀

Oh gosh lol - my expectations are pretty low tbh, so maybe I'll surprise myself :)

Just take it steady and enjoy

Age or lack of running experience seems to be no barrier to success with this programme - I’m on week 5 and never thought I’d get to this point - and a little older than you

Well done - hopefully I'll make it past week one. Lol. Seriously though, I will give this a good go. When I set my mind to something, I can be really stubborn, so hopefully that's a good thing.
