just thinking about it

Some of the people I meet at Slimming World were talking about this website and recommended it. I feel like I need to do more exercise than just a weekly gym session and the occasional bout of digging in my allotment. So I've signed up to this site but now how to psych myself up for my first run?

Welcome! I too go to SW and am enjoying this program immensely, having never run before. Just take one run at a time- the podcasts are really encouraging and tell you when to run & walk.

Let us know how you get on so we can back you all the way. 😁

Well done for making the decision. Don't be put off if your first week is hard - many of us really really struggled to run for 60 seconds. A few months later we are running for 30 minutes - I keep saying it out loud as I can't quite believe it myself. I'm still carrying far too much weight but my shape is changing and I love my morning runs. Good luck with the programme - let us know how you get on :)

Just have a go. I'm on week 9 now and able to run for 30 mins without stopping after a lifetime of not running. I can't honestly say that I love running but there are times when I enjoy it and sometimes it's a slog. What I can honestly say is I am really proud and amazed that I have got this far and I feel better for it.

So dispel your doubts, put on your trainers and give it a go.

Choose which day you're going to start - decide whether you're running in the morning, afternoon or evening, give yourself the space/time to do your run (each session about 40m - plus dressing time). Get your kit ready, lay it out waiting for you. Then do it. once you've done one, then two you'll be at week 6, and 9 before you know it.

Start now and you're graduating in January - what a great way to start a New Year.
