Well as you can see,..this is a NEW post... to introduce a NEW club within the C25K forum
No prizes for guessing the name of the club!
It is of course,the....Off The Couch Club.
If you are reading this...it means that you have got off that couch and you are just joining, or already are, doing Couch to 5K, and there are, ( wonderfully), so, so many of us here on this amazing programme right now, and it is really, really hard to keep track of each other.
We in Admin' try so hard to keep up with you all, but sometimes, the sheer numbers of folk overwhelm us, and we miss folks' posts and never get to reply.
So... we in the Admin' team thought we would trial a new venture.
Off the Couch is for all our New runners, ( Newbies) and for all of you amazing folk who are n different weeks, but all heading towards the podium and Graduation...
In this group, in one place, we can join in, on the weekly posts, supporting each other, encouraging each other and generally keep each other going. We can get to know each other, find out who is on the same runs or weeks and hopefully inspire and motivate each other.
I will be posting throughout February and maybe beyond, with tips, links to useful posts and sites, answers to specific questions, ideas and such like.
BUT....and here is the thing... We in Admin' would love YOU to tell US what kind of thing YOU would like to see within the regular posts.
What kind of tips or advice would you like to see, what questions would you like answered, is there a particular aspect of the programme you would like explained, or to talk about...basically;
What would YOU like to know more about as you head towards that Graduation Badge?
We will aim to help as much as we are able, but as we are all volunteers...and most of the team have jobs... and family... and are runners also... we may not be able to answer all your queries or fulfil all your requests!
We are awesome...but not THAT awesome.
So...If you would like to join this Off the Couch Group... please reply and I will add your name to the list!
We are excited about this and are hoping to get a whole load of you here with us.
Oldfloss & All the Team x

Check these out now, and I will be posting more links... we seasoned runners have to watch out for each other.. although I suspect I am more seasoned ( ha ha ) than you
Some folk do stretch before a run others not... but warming up well is essential...if you do stretch before a run, they should be dynamic stretches...
I'd like to see info on suggested / recommended running kit, injury recovery, injury signs to look out for (i.e. when a twinge/niggle might be a sign of something more serious), recommended reading lists.... I'm sure I can think of more, but that's plenty for now.
Wow.... well that is plenty to be thinking about! There is already a lot of information on some of those things already on the site...but I will be posting links to them
Added.... I shall post a new post tomorrow with some more information
Hi Oldfloss. Please add me to the group. Iβm finally off the injury couch I landed on last year during week 9 πβΉοΈ π’. I am now in week 5 and loving it all over again!
Just take it gently...if it is a good group, they will take it slow and steady... and not try to push you at all.... You are the runner... you run in your own way
Sign me up please! Just done wk1 run 2. Obviously itβs early days but so far so good. I know it will help me hugely to be connected with other people doing the same thing though, as I am slightly scared and also worried about my motivation dropping.
Can I join y'all please? I've tried to do the c25k three different times before and never got past week 3, but part of me still really wants to be a runner..
I'm worried about my knees too as I have had a lot of trouble in the past with them. I've bought some knee brace supports and when I take the leap to do my first run next week I intend wearing the braces at first, then doing the knee strengthening exercises and hopefully build up some muscle and not need the brace anymore (I'm 64).
Hi city to surf, thanks for reply, where do you get knee braces from ? Are they generally available? Iβve seen a physio once and have strapped my knee when doing the runs.
I am 69 tomorrow and have never run before in my life ! I started C2k 5 on 1st January and have done upto Wk5 R2 but r knee really holding me back, or keeping me rightly slow off to see physio again today so fingers crossed I can keep going. Dreading R3 in the w5 though!
Hope you have a good diagnosis from your GP... they will recommend knee support if you do need them, and hopefully give you the correct exercises... we have knee exercises linked here on my post in Strength and Flex...
Another newbie. I'm in, please. Ran (relative term) my 3rd 'Week 1' run today. 4 full minutes achieved. I'll do some more 'Week 1' runs next week to get to the full 8.
Just great... I should have put a new post up yesterday but has taken me longer than I thought... so watch out for it..later today... you won't miss it....
I'll join in; I'm on week 5 and would like more info on food/calorie intake as I'm keen to lose weight on top of the achievement of running further than I have for 40 years. I already feel loads better but there is lots of conflicting advice on the intranet so would be good to see a nutrition plan to go with C25K.
Added π...but, as we are not a weight loss programme, we do not have a nutrition plan that goes with it...so the best thing to do is to link on with our sister forum as well as this..Weight Loss NHS... loads of our runner here, are on there also
I would like to join this group. I would like a thread for each week so it would be easy to find others at the same stage as me and see their achievers and problems
Added π Not sure what you mean by a thread for each week... we could not logistically have a post for each week...but by visiting the Off the Couch posts each week , you can read folks reply and see where they are?
Great forum and one thing I often see is posts for rest day activities and stretching.
As a suggestion I think there should be better publicised links to the βNHS Choicesβ podcasts. These are linked to C25K and one can safely do them on rest days. They are well put together and work. Lots of interesting and useful articles and videos.
Thanks for that.. those links you mention, are all linked already on our flagged Newbie post on how to run C25K, which we advice all our new runners to read before starting.., and as Admin, we point folk to these on a regular basis...Pinned posts too, hold this information and my Off the Couch pinned posts too.
Many, many of our runners, have you say have found them and still do extremely useful.
