I finished week three at lunchtime today - just a few weeks ago I couldn't imagine even getting this far, but with the lovely Laura's calm tuition it hasn't been the impossible struggle that I had feared.
I normally take one or two 6 km walks a day following the roads that bound the local park where the Parkrun takes place on Saturday mornings. I've taken to running the C25K lesson at the beginning of the walk and then just carrying on at the end of the podcast to complete the 6k.
Yesterday I installed Endomondo on my phone after realising that it could automatically record my time to the 5k point - I had the sneaking suspicion that doing the C25K runs was actually slower than just walking. I normally stride along at about 6 km/h and have had to back-off my walking slightly to fully get my breath back after the 3 minute running segments.
My best time for walking 5 km on that route was 46:03. The result of running for 9 minutes of that 5k at lunchtime today? 45:23 - a whole 40 seconds knocked off my PB. Yay! Better than I thought!
By the way I know it is probably counter-productive to be looking at such figures at this stage, but I just like playing with the stats - Quantified Self and all that sort of thing.
