The Truth About...

I just noticed that BBC 1 are repeating The Truth About series. Late tonight is episode 3, the truth about fat. iPlayer has the truth about calories from last week too... both of interest to anyone trying to eat healthily.

Also still on iPlayer is the truth about getting fit... which may be of interest to a lot of people here, especially newer members. Part of that one is 10k steps up against Active 10 walking.

Other channels are available, but they don’t show this 🤣

And the most interesting point was that running is actually GOOD for your knees! Runners are less likely to get arthritis and the pressure that you put in your knees is the same as walking, but over less time!

Who knew!!

I loved the show, but haven’t seen it for a while... nowadays I can watch it with a smug smile 🤣

Is this the thing with Dr Moseley? I saw something briefly the other day about how doing 30 minutes brisk walking daily is better for you than doing the 10,000 steps daily.

Yes, that’s the one, and that’s one of about 6 things they look at.

As we lay here on the couch trying not to eat too much those may be worth watching thanks

Have you been managing to find time to run?

Nope! Though I did get one run in. I have now caught up on work and other stuff I missed though, so running tomorrow and then it’s onwards and upwards!

I say watch the truth about fat... then have a big fry up!!

it’ll remind us of when we watched a vegan programme and decided to go vegan one day a week, craig that didn’t last although a lot of what we eat is vegan but i can’t live without cheese

Enjoy your run

I’d be the same... gave up meat no problem... cheese is a whole different ball game... and eggs... and butter, I can’t not fry in butter

I’m considering getting into cheese making... have a corner of the garden where nettles grow, so that’s the rennet sorted... just need some patience 🤣

My dad used to make cream cheese when we were little and i remember making butter with my mum

Oh butter is a must so many things just don’t taste the same cooked in oil

I make butter... but in the food processor, not much elbow grease required these days 🤣

I was delighted when it was announced that scientists had decided we could fry in butter after all. Logically it always made sense to me, our natural diet says we can take such fats.

I totally agree about butter, we have never had margarine in our house although i have olive oil

Enjoy... I found them empowering as they cut through the marketing of the health industry nicely.

That's good ☺️

What gets peddled as 'healthy' is mind boggling!

Don't get me wrong, I don't know all there is to know, but I do know you need fat in your diet - something of a revelation to me when I joined the weight loss forum and discovered you could eat butter and cream and still lose weight!! 😂 After years of yoyo dieting, cutting out fat was not required.

Yeah... I would really love to see that type of marketing banned
