Good things come in 3s! C25k/3πŸ€ W3R3βœ… and the 'torture tool' (aka a foam roller) seems to be working too!!

πŸ™„ Hope I haven't just jinxed myself but..... so far, so good on my third return to C25k after being on the IC.🀞🏼

Week 3's runs are now complete and I'm feeling optimistic 😊.

Having really struggled with muscle soreness in the past I have always stretched after a run using the NHS stretchesπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ. This week I also started using a foam roller set after reading such positive recommendations on the forum. I have to admit that the foam roller really is more like an instrument of torture 😩, but it does seem to be doing the job of reducing muscle soreness in the evening. So.... it's definitely worth gritting my teeth and smiling through a few minutes of agony for a pair of comfortably tired running legs!

At the moment I love to hate the foam roller, but I can see it could be something I begin to hate to love and I end up packing it when I travel north to see family in a few weeks time......

It's wonderful to have reached this 'third of the way' stage and be feeling positive about starting week 4!

Happy running everyone πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ!

Hey.. I was just thinking of you on today's run. Wondering how you were getting on. Doing great πŸ‘

May have to look at the foam roller torture thingy!

Been struggling on longer runs with a niggly knee but I'll keep plodding on..

Keep up the great running xx

I have to admit that the air is frequently blue when I am using the torture device, but it is working.

My son, who is very sporty and doing GCSE PE, has been using it too and he seems to take it in his stride, meanwhile I am more like this....🀬!

Thanks for the encouragement Buddy 😊.

Hi, really interested in foam rollers but how do you know which to use?

There are loads of helpful clips on the internet if you google 'foam rollers for runners'.

I bought a set from Amazon which included the smooth roller, a nobbly one and a spiky massage ball after reading posts on here last year. I use the torturous nobbly one on my legs (I took a photo for you but can't add it here in a reply box). It massages your muscles post exercise. I have been using it before going to bed as I sometimes get leg aches during the night and it has helped.
