W1 R1 yesterday, my first attempt at running since last June. Back and knees ok but hip flexors and glutes a bit tight tonight so have tortured myself on the foam roller. (I hate that thing, but not as much as that gym ball) Also a few piriformis stretches. Hot bath now and seems ok again. Looking forward to tomorrows run.

all that from JOGGING as slowly as possible?

Yup I’m nearly 54 and after 10 years in the infantry and nearly 20 in the police I’m basically in bits! 😂

Mate.... TAKE IT SLOWLY.... VERY SLOWLY!!! You are JOGGING not 'running'. Keep the pace 'conversational', i.e. one you still talk comfortably at.

NO-ONE should be in any trouble after W1R1 in my opinion - not if they go slowly enough.

I’m not in trouble - just got tight glutes. The reference to me being in bits is in general not due to yesterday’s run. 😊

I dread to think how uncomfortable foam rolling your hip flexors must be. or how difficult to explain if someone walked in while you were doing it.

Sounds like you know what you are doing though. It's always tough the frst few days back to any exercise. Next week will be better. Good luck getting in and out of the car tomorrow.

I had not got a clue what a foam roller was , let alone a hip flexor now thanks to you tube and internet I do 😂

Thing is it works 😊👍🏻

Unlike years ago when you had a bad back you were told by the Dr to try laying down on hard surface ( normally a door ) for a week

😂 lol no sorry , I got a foam roll before I saw your post 👍🏻who would of believed it would of worked , so sorry if I have disappointed you 😩
