I was looking ahead to when I retire
Stopping my blood pressure getting much higher
Wanting firmer thighs and a stronger heart
I just didn’t know where to start
Downloaded the app using Laura and Jo
Taking their advice to go nice and slow
For extra support, I joined HealthUnlocked
But Week One: Run One, I was shocked..
I couldn’t run for sixty secs
And was scared of what was coming next
By the third week (slow and steady was key)
One minute runs had increased to three
I might have been puffed out and looked a mess
But was feeling fitter and making progress
Fast forward to Week Five – there’s panic aplenty
Would I really be able to run for twenty?
Week Six – a new phase - the intervals gone
All running (no walking reprieves) from now on
Weeks Seven to Nine – you miraculously find
Your body is strong enough; it’s all in the mind !
We can all do this, it's for everyone -
The stressed office worker and the harassed mum
For the ageing husband; the busy wife
For us all - a healthier way of life
So I’ve bought new trainers after checking my gait
Now onwards and upwards to Graduate
I’ve swapped the chocolate and fizzy cola
For trainers and Lycra (and a painful foam roller)
