Did my first C25K yesterday, and:
- it was easier then I expected it to be;
- I am not in excruciating pain this morning;
- I actually look forward to my 2nd run tomorrow.
Yay!!!

Well that’s good then. You obviously weren’t going too fast. Keep up the good work and enjoy run 2
It was more walk and jog pace than anything else, and “fast” is not the speed I was going 😆
Congrats on completing your first run and welcome to the program.
Looking at the graph it looks like you were sprinting or the app you are using is wrong. If you were sprinting try slowing down a little, the aim isn't to break any land speed records, etc, just to complete the runs.
As you progress through the weeks the longer runs may become hard for you to complete at a sprint pace and this could be very discouraging for you, it was to me when I first completed C25K in 2017.
Just take it slow and steady.
Thank you!! The speed spike looks suspicious to me as well, as I definitely didn’t sprint and was careful not to over do it. I may use 2nd app on my next run and compare results afterwards.
Thank you 😊 I think Map my run app went crazy in the middle as i definitely wasn’t sprinting at any point - walk and jog is more of the pace... taking it easy and will start thinking about my pace once I complete my 6 weeks, for now it’s about getting off the sofa and not giving up.
Well done! I felt the same, it really was ok. Keep it slow and steady
Well done for completing your first C25K run, and great to hear that you're looking forward to your next one. I guess that, looking at the graph you've posted that you're using Map My Run? I use that app too and wonder about the accuracy as like on yours, I sometimes get a totally bizarre speed spike at the same point (it doesn't matter if I'm walking or running at the time) which then throws the average pace calculation way off! Do be wary though of going too fast (as other people have already advised), this could seriously scupper your chances when you get further into the programme. I've just re-started C25K but looking back over my Map My Run traces I see that I was covering between 3.4 - 3.7 km when I originally ran Week 1, when I did it for the second time (last week) I was covering only 3.2 - 3.3 km as I'm running a slower speed that I found was necessary in later weeks. Good luck with it all and please do let us know how you get on.
Yeah, the mid run spike does not look right. I kept a safe jogging pace on my 60sec run bits (as shown on all other spikes) and def didn’t sprint. Breaking into a new pair of running shoes, and first run since September - believe me, I was careful not to over do it. Map my run shows I did 3.6km, but may use Strava on my next run as well to compare results.
Welcome to the gang and congratulations on your first run.
I'm very jealous though. That first run really knocked the stuffing out of me 🤣
Happy running
