Well here it is the moment I have been building up to for all of these weeks, which actually doesn’t seem very long ago. I would like to say that I finished with style and a sprint but I’m back in Florida and it’s a hot and humid morning so it was quite a slog but I did it and here I am feeling smug. When I started I was absolutely convinced that I would have to repeat a couple of the weeks along the way but that hasn’t been the case, I’ve followed the program almost to the letter and it’s been relatively easy for me to do it. Three months ago I was a smoker and was heavily overweight and could not have run for 5 minutes let alone 30. I’m still overweight but that’s changing slowly but surely and I feel and look a lot better than I did back then. I’m not very fast but I am consistent and as the extra weight comes off I know this will improve. So what’s next? I’m going to do the 3 post C25K podcasts a few times and get a feel for where I want to be then aim to run for an actual 5k (I’m just over 4K in 30 minutes so reckon I can do a sub 40 minute 5k) I’m also going to have a go at my local park runs in the not too distant future but I think my long term goal is to be able to run for an hour 3 times a week regardless of distance. It goes without saying that it would have been a lot harder without the help and support of all you wonderful people in this forum, it’s truly humbling the way you all take time out to encourage people along their own fitness journey. A huge thank you for that and happy running to all of my new friends .
