Week 3 of consolidation and run two took it easy and enjoyed the run even though I’d found it hard for some reason.
Well I managed to download some music and a 30 min run and a 5 k run on my Garmin after hours of trying to work it out 😂
The verdict well it was quite liberating not have to carry my phone with me 🙂 . I’m converted I think will take me months and even then I don’t think I’ll fully know what each the features are but having music and the run plans on there is perfect for me.
For anyone thinking of getting one I’d say go for it 🙂 my budget for a new smart watch was £100 but I managed to get the Vivoactive 3 music from CEX online for £110 I was worried about the condition but it looked brand new and has a 2 year guarantee so I’m chuffed with that 🙂

Oh well done Sham, that sounds like a good deal on your Garmin
They are addictive little gadgets, I've had my forerunner a few weeks and I'm still playing with it! I don't have a music version, but I need to carry my phone anyway, I've one of those little holders strapped to my arm for that.
Funny though, everytime you post I keep hearing 'Hersham boys!' in my head, I know your '19' but still
I had a Fitbit blaze and kept hearing people say they were inaccurate so I used it along with the Nike run app and it was indeed inaccurate so I sold it for £50 and put the rest of the money in for the Garmin
For the same run, the RunKeeper app on my phone (showing same start time and an end time within seconds of Fitbit), said I had done 5.01k
But they are both using the GPS on my phone. So I dont understand how they can be so far out.
I decided to plot the course using the 'Measure Distance' function on Google Maps, just to see which came closest. Google Maps said 5.3k. So that wasnt a lot of help at all 🤣.
Hey ho!
Thing is, although I'm not quite sub 30min 5k, I'm close, (I did it once on week 9 run 2 - 29.59 🤣). I'm averaging 33mins for 5k.
So for my consolidation runs, I decided that instead of running for 30 minutes, I'm going to do 5k every time. So it kinda makes a difference.
I would research the Samsung if you can to find out the accuracy for running etc.
I went for garmin cos everyone was harping on about them and have to say it was a great choice and you do get more info and stats the normal smart watches.
If you like stats I go for Garmin if not than any smart watch that’s accurate and has gps.
Saying that it has made me stressed out because it said I’ve had moderate to high stress levels all day yesterday 😂 and every so often it buzzes and the MOVE comes on the screen which I find quite offensive 😂 it’s like having a Sargent major on my arm 🤣
So I looked at reviews of the Samsung watch, and compared to the more expensive Garmins and Fitbits, it comes out very well on accuracy.
What I want is something that's all singing, all dancing. I dont want to have to take my phone with me, but I dont want to be out of contact for too long (especially if I step up to 10k). With the smart watch, I can use it as a phone too, independent of my mobile.
In fact, I think I've almost talked myself into it right now 🤣🤣🤣
