My Mum Suffers really bad with psoriatic arthritis and after 1 run on Monday she is still really hurting. Does anyone on here have this and if so can you advise on any coping strategies? She had a strap on her knee and managed to run 40seconds each time before her knee became painful. I don’t want this to discourage her, she really wants to be able to do this!

Running with psoriatic arthritis
We are not medical experts and even someone with the same condition as your mother can only give their experience and their case may not be exactly same, so we always recommend getting advice from a medical professional who is familiar with your personal circumstances.
The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... gives advice on minimising impact and stretching as well as knee strengthening exercises, which may, or may not, help.
Hi Mrs Hobbs - Iannoda Truffe is so right about seeking medical opinion. But I also wondered whether for now, your Mum might be able to do the early weeks as walks rather than runs? So she could pick a pace for the ‘walking’ elements then up the pace to a really brisk walk for the running bits. It might be easier on her knees until she’s got used to it and keep her confidence and motivation going! Good luck!
Here's quite a good article on pain and exercise, and exercising with arthritis.
