Bought a brand spanking new pair of Asics to replace my rather ancient but still fairly bouncy old ones..and was disappointed as the soles are misaligned and made my right foot and ankle a bit sore on this evenings run. Think they are seconds but not advertised as such - sending them back. Beware of eBay ‘bargains’ folks 🤔

Anyway, despite the dodgy footwear, and forgetting to activate my Fitbit ‘run’ mode til the last 5 mins, I quite enjoyed this evenings effort.

I’m still happily obsessed with timings and stats and am still determined to do a sub 30 min 5k in March 😮🤞

Thank you. Having read your post I’m sure there’s more life left in my ‘old’ Asics than I thought..but am keen to get a dynamic gait analysis done somewhere, as never had it done before.

Shame about the shoes.

But at that pace, at the end of your run, and on that week, you might well make a sub 30 5k.

Just dont push it and cause injury.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks Mig. Have been suffering from some lower back pain after jarring it on some uneven ground (not while running) a week or so ago. But yesterday decided to go for my run anyway. Afterwards back felt considerably better, but suffering this morning!

Thought I was going really slowly in my last 8 min run (wk 5 run 2) but was surprised to see I was quicker and heart beat lower than previous run. Pace 6.18 per km and heart max 138. (Maybe cos I ditched the new shoes?!)

Thanks for support. This forum is really great.

I bought Asics on wk9 as a present for getting that far but only after going to a good running shop and getting my gait analysed. Had some insoles moulded for me at the same time, came out with a lighter wallet but having some great advice in getting the right shoes. Unfortunately the "Sweatshop" has closed down now. My shoes are still going strong 7 month later and a lot of 5K's

Hope you get them sorted and find some running shoes that are suitable.

Glad your shoes are the right ones for you. I was back in my old ones yesterday and had a much better run. Think I may wear them til they fall apart!
