Well I’ve been struggling with a bit of a sore throat the last few days but it never seems to develop into a full blown cold. Today I thought I’d get back into my Monday/Wednesday/Friday routine as the kids r back to nursery but I think I should have given it a miss! I also had a bit of a dodgy tummy this morning (soz tmi lol) so was probably a bit dehydrated before I even set off.
Anyway I only managed to run 20 mins as I was head first into the wind running up a (not very steep but long) hill with a thirst like u wouldn’t believe 🙈 I reckon passers by would liken me to a fish out of water gulping for breath 😂
I know I still went out and tried but I’m really annoyed at myself that for some reason today I just physically couldn’t do any more and that’s what’s hard to take as I hate ‘giving up’. I had a lovely new route planned but had to cut it short and barely made it back to my car still running.
Oh well today was obviously just not my day. Onwards and upwards though. Hope u all have more success today 🤞🏼

Ah don’t beat yourself up today, everyone has off days and sickness I know really affects me. Even top althetes have rubbish training days!! maybe give yourself a few rest days and try again? In the past when I’ve been strength training I’ve taken a week off, gone back to the gym and felt super strong because I’ve been well rested. Just because you’re ill on one day doesn’t mean you can’t do it or you’ve given up, just means your body wasn’t on top form that day and that’s ok!
You sound so determined and it’s that determination that will keep you going and give it another go after a rest!
Give yourself time to recover. I know how you feel about being disappointed, I had a shorter run a few days ago and felt like I was cheating! This running lark definitely gets in your head!
Yes ur spot on there! Now that I’ve graduated I should be able to do 30 mins!! But a few factors against me today. Oh well, see what Wednesday brings 🏃🏻♀️🤞🏼
Ladies short runs are not cheating 😊 they are a great way to get your fix if short of time or motivation. You just need to give yourself permission.
On can't be arsed days I've made myself go out for 10mins and ended up doing 20 and feeling great. If I had set out thinking I have to do 30 and only did 20 then you are not going to feel so positive.
A number of the 10k running plans advocate a short run each week so don't be bound by the 30 mins. You've graduated, your a runner, you can do whatever you like 😁 Be free x
You said it CJMumma , you were still out there even though you weren’t really feeling it, you should feel good that you actually gave it a go and for 20 MINS?!! That’s more than a lot can do on a good day!!! Right, i am ordering you (I’ve got my bossy head on!!) to rest up and wait now until you feel 100% otherwise you’ll be setting yourself up for another fall (not that this was a fall in my eyes!!) You’re no good to those little ones of yours is you’re under the weather and running when your body is trying to fight off this whatever it is will just zap your energy and you’ll be out of action for longer...a bit of tlc sounds like what you need.....and some cold and flu tabs!!! Your next run will be out there waiting for your return x
Yeah I know ur right my lovely, was just excited getting back into the routine lol 😂 early night for me I think as I’m done in.... spent the afternoon cleaning whilst my rascals ran about fighting about who wanted to use mummy’s hoover. I’m sure in a few years they will be arguing about not wanting to use it 😉
I know, it’s easy to think “right I’m going to give a go” it’s so frustrating when all you want to do is get out there but you will only do more damage and we don’t want that for you. Your little ones will DEF avoid the vacuum one day, I can promise you that!!! Enjoy your early night...I was going to suggest a bath but it’s hard when they’re only little, the only time i’ve had a bath is when i’ve given birth!!! Haven’t time any other day!! x
