Week 4 Run 3 V2

Well that's another week completed. Everything went ok. Monday I will move on to week 5.

A friend, who is quite an accomplished runner, is keen that we go out for a run together. I have explained that I am very slow. I like running on my own, and usually in the dark, so that I can go at my own pace. He says he is more than prepared to run slowly with me but I am sure I would feel that I was holding him back.

There are things about having a running buddy which appeal. Perhaps with us being so far apart in terms of ability may mean that we wouldn't be competing with each other.

Who runs on their own and who runs with a buddy? Thoughts please.

Great you've now completed wk4. I think it's really nice that your friend has offered to run with you .

Me, I love running on my own and always have done. The only exception is when I go to parkrun😊😊

I run with Willow, sometimes he goes off in front, sometimes he walks a bit and i overtake him, we intend to run next to each other but that doesn’t always happen nowadays, lately he has had enough before me so i carry on for a while longer, I think as long as we start together it’s fine if we run differently, sometimes when we are going there and back along the seafront the one in front runs back to the one behind

An experienced runner should be comfortable at your pace but if they aren’t they will do their own thing

I like to go by myself but once every week or so I run with a friend who is far more experienced, stronger and faster. We run the same route but she runs off and then during the run will run back past me and then scamper off into the distance and so on, repeating this until we finish the circuit. I don't mind this at all as she's so supportive and has noticed how stronger I've become over the 8 weeks so far.

I have mostly run on my own and on a treadmill at the gym! I did my 1st outdoor run with a friend who was also doing c25k (we live in different towns) but although I loved the run outside, I did find it hard to stay at her pace. She was slower than me so I tried hard to stay with her but in the end she could see I was struggling so told me to go on. I felt bad but it just felt better for me to go on. Tbh I wasn’t that far ahead by the end of the run but I was just so much more comfortable. My next run with a friend was someone who is a very experienced runner (he ran 100 miles in a week 😳) It was great! He kept me at a decent comfortable pace. I did warn him I was super slow but he was happy to run at my pace and did so with ease. Only downside was him trying to talk to me! Whilst I can talk, I don’t like to yet as I’m not used to holding a conversation and focusing on breathing lol. Try it out and see how u get on, u may like the company.
