Week 1 Run 2 - I did it!

I run with all the grace and fitness of an elderly slug, but I did it šŸ˜€ Iā€™m shattered and my back started to ache during the final run, but Iā€™m proud of myself.

I ran in the local park as Iā€™m not at work today. Two bonuses - being in glorious sunshine and seeing lots of cute dogs as I went round and round šŸ‘

Yay well done you. Bet you found it easier than your last run though!

And I bet when you do your next run, you'll find that your recovery time is also noticeably quicker!

Great work, keep it up!

Thank you! Iā€™m actually looking forward to the next run. What have I become?!

The beautiful thing about this program (I found anyway), is the structure of it and the little boosts you get along the way. The good feeling of completing each week. The feeling of completing run 1 of a new week!

I was never a runner, always thought it a silly thing to do. Now I'm a complete convert because of this program. :-)

Well done on starting your running journey. Know youā€™re joking but donā€™t put yourself down . The motto here is ā€˜run slow & slower stillā€™ which is precisely how youā€™ve run. Youā€™ve already jumped the first hurdle - youā€™ve positively started changing your fitness & life by trusting in this fantastic app & supportive, brilliant forum. Ensure you perform the warm up & cool down exercises before & after each run as this will help your body recover. Iannodatruffle has some excitement advice about exercises, Iā€™ll dig it out for you. Congratulations on your run šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

Thank you and Iā€™d really appreciate advice on warm up and cool down exercises. I hurt my right ankle a couple of years ago and I donā€™t want to set that off again. Thanks for your support!

Hope these stretches help you. Theyā€™ve been copied from the Administrator ā€˜Iannodatruffleā€™ excellent post:

Post-run stretches:

Thank you. Thatā€™s really helpful. Do you the post run stretches have to be done immediately after a run? I donā€™t fancy lying down on the pavement! It takes me about 10 mins to drive home from where I run - is that too long to wait before doing the stretches in the comfort of my living room?!

šŸ˜€Nope! If you lie down on a pavement someoneā€™s bound to dial for an ambulance šŸš‘! Do the exercises that are appropriate to your surroundings. Hope it helps šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

Congratulations on continuing the first week of your journey. Don't worry about the elderly slug bit! I think in my first week my trousers nearly fell down! Then on my first parkrun one of the photos on the home straight made me look like a zombie! But having started in May I can now do 10k (and I'm 4 stone lighter). So remarkable changes can be made.

Enjoy your journey. Watch out for your back though. If it starts to hurt, slow down.

Ha ha ha! Oh dear, thereā€™s no dignity in running. Congratulations on your 4 stone weight loss and getting to 10k. Both amazing achievements.

You run much like me, then. Well done. I'm going to do week 1 run 3 this morning. Feeling nervous for some reason. Completing week 1 seems like a big milestone.
