Week 5, run 3. I did it....just!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the plan said I had to run 20 mins without a break today, but I’ve learned along the way to trust the wisdom of lovely Michael Johnson. He said if I’d completed all the previous runs then I was physically ready for it - the only challenge would be psychological.

This was the scene of my run this evening - the lovely Castle Green in Hereford. Round and round I went, past the hoodies with their JD bags, past the old boys on the bowling green, past the dad playing football with his son.

I honestly didn’t believe I could do it, but thankfully my determination is much stronger than my pain threshold! As it finally ended I allowed a large grin to spread across my red sweaty face. I’d just run for 20 whole minutes without stopping - yes me, who 5 weeks ago couldn’t run a bath! 🛁🏃🏼‍♀️😀

You couldn't run a bath 5 weeks ago, now you can run for 20 minutes non stop., congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃 😊

This is awesome to read. You must feel great. Thanks for encouraging us slightly behind you too. I’m just about to start week 4 and feeling similar about can I do it. Week 3 was challenging.

I’ve found every week challenging! And weirdly I found week 4 harder than week 5?! 🤨 As everyone says on here, trust the program, it really does create miracles. Good luck xx

Welcome to the “other side”. (Not meant to be too spooky!)

I just got in from mine and I'm amazed I did it. Same as you I couldn't run at all 5 weeks ago and this feels kind of weird but incredible. Having a tattoo on Thurs though, so that may delay me a bit - going to see what happens, but really really wanted to get over the 20-min challenge beforehand.

Well done, it’s so nice to speak to someone at the same stage. Maybe you should have a tiny C25K tattoo done somewhere 😉 xx

Hah! You know what, if I get through the full thing, I just might. You know, tattoos... addictive :)

I too completed my 20 minute run yesterday and I can't describe how elated I was. It is a massive achievement from someone who cried off the cross country at school with "chest pain". The C25K does work and you just need to trust it. Well Done You

Same here! Unbelievable isn’t it. I ran on the beach with my dog. Really slowly, but speeded up for the last bit. It’s nice to tell someone who will appreciate my achievement! When I told my daughter I’d run for 20 mins non stop she was less than effusive in her praise!

I’m so pleased for you and hope we both manage to keep it up.

Well done little otter, I’m proud of you even if your daughter isn’t! 😉 Its seriously impressive that you speeded up at the end!! Where did you find the energy? Keep going and we will smash it 💪🏻🏃🏼‍♀️

Many congratulations!! I totally share your feeling having completed my week 5 yesterday evening. When i came back i checked how much i had run and that felt like another personal milestone.

Lets hope to keep surprising near and dear ones with our perseverance and psychological thresholds! Amen.
