Week 8, getting there!

Just completed run 1 of week 8. Starting to feel that I can really make it to 30 mins! I've not really found it too hard physically so far, just run really slowly, and feel great afterwards, but I am finding these longer runs quite a mental effort. I tend to look at posts from people at a similar stage the night before and find them and all the supportive replies really motivating, so thanks everyone!

It helped today that I was able to run in Richmond Park as down in London visiting family. Beautiful, and nice flat path, easier than my usual hilly Sheffield routes, thought the views out the Peak District from my local park are great too!

So good luck to everyone else who is nearing the end of the programme. We can do it!!

Good for you! Yes you absolutely can do this.

You've done R1. Only need to do it twice more and then it's only an extra couple of minutes in the final week. Wow can you imagine saying 'only' a couple of extra minutes after wk1 R1 🤣.

You've got this!

You are so right! 1 minute in week 1 seemed an age, can't believe I'm nearly there. I've started my mental plan for working up to a park run as will need to build up to as least 40mins to get to 5k.

Mental prep is so important. I remember how much I enjoyed the first solid 20 minute run of the program. But I spend 2 days mentally preparing for it. I wont say I feared the run, but I really didnt want it to be a 'practice run'.

Good luck on your park run. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine.

We’re at the same point W8R1 done! Good luck to you too. I keep saying to myself it’s only 5 more runs now. Hope the weather stays kind for us. I am on the flat south thankfully so onwards.. R2 tomorrow for me 👍

Good luck with the run tomorrow! My run 2 is on Friday, think the weather is due to get colder, but that's ok unless it's raining too.
