Hi guys, I’ve struggled since graduation on Dec 1st but I’ve got out there twice a week and pounded the pavement. I live on an estate in the middle of nowhere (north of Cheltenham) and anyone I know locally who runs gets in the car to a decent route. Weather has not been inviting, and I’ve struggled with the lack of structure. I’ve tried to mix it up with some “speedy” 20 minute bursts and 30 mins slower runs, always repeating week 9 run 3.
Today I did my first park run. I met up with someone I don’t know very well, who is way fitter than I am, and who set the pace. Somehow I managed to keep up, somehow I managed to converse (I hadn’t appreciated it was a social) and somehow I managed a time of 32mins 54 seconds. So much mud! 14th in my age category. Totally blown away and it’s shown me that if you put the foundation in and train you can achieve great things. I wasn’t even on the couch when I started, I had barely got out of bed!
Thanks to everyone on this forum for their support. I’m absolutely knackered tonight and my bones ache but I’m feeling so proud.
