Back on track to graduate on Christmas Day - bah humbug

So the hospital cancelled my cancellation spot and I’m not having my op on Tuesday. Ho hum.

Am bitterly disappointed as it was such a relief to feel that finally things would be sorted.

However at least there’s a silver lining and I can keep up my progress with C25K and graduate at my local parkrun on Christmas morning.

Ran W7R2 this morning, I thought I was slow but was 12 seconds per km quicker than last time so that’s another positive.

Chin up!

Best of wishes for your operation. Great idea to graduate on Christmas Day at a parkrun. Brilliant. I’ll be running at my local parkrun too on Christmas Day. I’m really looking forward to kick Christmas Day off with a parkrun. Best wishes too for the rest of your runs to week 9.

Oh how annoying. Hopefully when your due apt comes they don’t muck you up again. Concentrate on that silver lining. Happy running

Shame you were given a date then it's been cancelled.

On a brighter note you can keep running. 🤗🤗

Hi! Just wondered if you have now had your operation? Now is not a good time to be needing surgery with so much resource going to C-19.

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on 27 February and am grateful I got in before the C-19 was declared a pandemic. It was shortly after completing my 40th Park Run and I'm on the road to recovery but not ready to run yet. I plan to restart C25K from week 1 in July or August, and, if week 1 is easy, go straight to week 2 and so on. Am 12 weeks post op and have tried a little jog but ended up with tummy pain so stopped! Good luck with your op if you haven't already had it - and if you have had et, good luck with your recovery. I felt better very soon after the op, but that was superficial. External scars heal far quicker than the internal ones. Take it easy and be kind to yourself.

Thanks for asking :)

First off, great to hear that you had yours and are well on your way to recovery.

I had my op cancelled with a week to go. I was bitterly disappointed at the time but I then developed COVID-19 symptoms at the time I’d have had the op so it was probably for the best.

I haven’t been able to run since 4th March after sustaining a knee injury - in fact went out for an exploratory W5R1 today to see if I’m ready for impact and the good news is that I seem to be. Good job too - I managed to lose 32kg for the op but the number on the scales has crept up over the past few weeks.

I hope your recovery continues to progress well, don’t push it! :)
