So I’ve done it. On a cold Sunday morning after being up since 5.30am with the littlest. Breakfast and coffee after tasted all the better for it.
I’ve struggled in recent weeks - the commitment of being “a runner” has weighed on me at times and it feels daunting to think this is a new lifestyle choice...but it also feels crazy good. Good to complete something and see it through, good to do something for me, and good to start living a more healthier life.
I “should” have completed it weeks ago but we’ve all had various illness which has taken the momentum away. I’ve also really struggled to get out when it’s so cold and dark. But I’ve done it. Really keen to hear what people went on to do next. I’m thinking running twice a week is more realistic for me, and over time I’m keen to bridge to 10k to make the most of the opportunity of getting out. Maybe some consolidation runs in December and a new challenge in the new year.
Thank you to everyone on here who have been a real support and a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoyed the early days, and in recent times I’ve enjoyed the post run coffee, but I’ve always enjoyed this forum. Thanks all and good luck to everyone who is on the journey!

Congratulations, can’t be easy fitting it in with little ones. If you can only fit in 2 runs don’t worry about it. 3 runs are the ideal but sometimes life just gets in the way.
A lot of us felt "lost" after graduating, you hit the "finish" and....then what?
Luckily there are options such as ju-ju's Bridge to 10k to move on to, but I know that myself and some others could not envision we would ever be able to get to 10k.
Just like we never thought we could ever run more than some paltry distance in the past
I spent a few weeks "just running" and wondering what I was going to do. And funnily enough, "just running 5 k" led to running a bit further, and further and further....until one day I got to 10!
Quelle surprise!!
But, I wish I had had ju-ju's plan back then, would have been a much healthier progress
Basically though, after graduation I think most people start to determine what the future basis of their running will be as they start understanding their physiology and mentality more.
Speed, Distance, Time.
Fast over short or long distance? Long distance for long time? Speed alternating with slower over given distance?
Me - I'll never be "fast" Genetics and a few other factors ensure that However - I am bloody persistent by nature so distance is what fulfills me I would love to be able to do a "Kenyan Marathon" but the day is coming when I will enter my first marathon and if I can run it all - I will have, with what I bring to the game, done just as well personally as if it were Berlin sub-2 hrs
And I started C25k, June 1st 2016, thinking that if I could run three tenths of a mile non stop in the local park, it would be totally "the ultimate"
Slow, steady and keeping it fun on at least some level is what keeps me going "onward and upward"
And the side benefits Better health physical and mental, my running buddies here on the Forum, the fun at events just "people watching" , the nice feeling when you make it over a Finish Line, the even nicer feeling when you hit the showers after the Finish line lol....
Sure beats the boredom, general malaise, "tunnel vision" life I had before
Wishing you many happy miles in your future, and CONGRATULATIONS once again on your Graduation (and you were quicker by week's than I was!
Congratulations and definitely run some consolidation runs. This time of year we only manage a couple of times a week and are happy with that we do one longer run and a shorter one, we have struggled to go out in the dark and wet but twice a week is fine for now, roll on spring
