Week 3 completed 😀

Easy run this morning no problems at all, I even picked up the pace a tiny bit in the last minute of running. Knees are still getting sore though, not pain just sore. I’ve read everything that I should be doing and do perform the stretches. Might be time to look at some knee supports. Anyway onwards to week 4 👍

Nice one Rig . I wear elastic knee supports - I tore an MCL in July and I just feel better wearing it .

Well done.

Are you doing knee strengthening exercises as linked to in the guide to the plan?

Keeping the pace down minimises impact.

Thanks, Yes I am doing everything as per the program and have read everything I can find on the subject. I’m carrying about 50 lbs too much weight though so until that comes down it’s going to be something I have to watch. I’m planning on joining a gym in January and will book a few sessions with a personal trainer to get specific advice. 👍

Well done Rigpig, you even had enough in the tank to speed up for the last minute, awesome! Are you mainly running on pavements / concrete? If so, a softer surface might be gentler on your knees?

Pavement for two of the weekly runs as I work away from home during the week. Saturday morning run is on finely crushed gravel which is softer. I’m trying to think where I could go to run on flat grass but it’s not that easy given the time I have. I’m going to get some knee supports today and see how I go with those. It’s not pain, just soreness but I don’t want it to get any worse.

Well done! Knee supports are my next buy...and I'm going to try running on grass tomorrow to see if it helps my knees at all. Anyway, let me say WELL DONE again!

Thanks, I really am loving this, I can’t believe how much it’s changing me. It would be pretty devastating to have to stop because of an injury.

Well done mate, you're going great guns and have now officially (just) overtaken me! (It's OK, I know it's not a race). Keep on keeping on but do take care of those knees (and I'm not saying this to slow you down so that I can catch up). It's essential that we avoid injury in this otherwise we lose momentum (and possibly motivation too). Hopefully your knee supports will do the trick, you can carry on and I'll try to be nipping at your heels not far behind next week.

You're doing great. Look after those knees, maybe have an extra rest day or two here and there. 👍🏻😁

Good advice :-) I got very good knee supports over the weekend, I'll try them out tomorrow on W4R1.
