I’ve started week 5 last night and I feel like I’m getting slower in running. The next run is for 8 minutes and I do feel like I’ll be even slower.
Is it natural for me to run slower as I run further?
I am recovering from the runs easier and I don’t feel as out of breath as I did when I started.

Slower is the way! When you go further you do realise more that slower is how we should all run on the longer ones. Please don't worry about speed as when you finish you can do shorter speedier ones, interval ones and slower longer runs.
Keep hydrated and start really steadily and get into your comfy rhythm. Not feeling out of breath is a fantastic indicator that you're doing it the right way as it a quick recovery after. It's in our nature to want to be quicker all the time but it's all about getting there first and speed follows automatically. Well done and keep going!
Slow is good!!! You are proving it by recovering & not being out of breath. Part of the secret of sustaining the longer runs is to enjoy them 🎈Well done!!!
Hi ThisMunnaRuns,
I definitely started to run slower and slower as the time running increased, I just had to go slower to get to the end of each. It’s definitely the right thing to do and nothing to worry about. Take it easy and go as slow as you need.
You will eventually quicken up again so stay positive.
Take care 🤗
If there's one thing I found best for me, it was running steady and slow just to get myself to the end of the session. And when getting the 1-minute-to-go message, then I would try and go hell for leather. Sometimes I could but mostly not.
Yer I think it’s pretty normal to run slower when you’re going for longer. If you run too fast it can really set you up to fail. Slow and steady is perfect and helps make sure you can achieve the longer times. Good luck
