Migraines after run

Hi All, any advice greatly received please. Completed C25k a week ago and have gone on to do a couple 5k runs in about 36m but have decided to just concentrate on 30m runs and see how I go. My only problem seems that after my run (about an hour) I get an aura migraine. Did wonder if not eating breakfast was the culprit so started to eat prior. Alas, today I had breakfast, ran and once again the migraine head hit again!! So chuffed that I have got this far and don’t want to stop so any ideas welcome x

I frequently get really bad headaches if my hydration is poor... could it be that?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your graduation.

This guide to post C25k may be helpful healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Are you drinking a minimum of 2-3 litres of fluids each and every day, whether running or not, as recommended in the guide to C25k ?healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Do you get the same thing if you run slower?

I get the same thing & it’s usually always to do with not enough fluids the day before & or light...sunglasses help the latter even though it looks silly😛

My GP said to take 2 paracetamol or Anadin the minute the aura starts with lots of water. This prevents the full on migraine & having to take codeine.

PS now that I drink vast quantities of water on run and rest days, it not much of an issue any more

That’s great thanks - I do get migraines but have started to get aura as well since the running. Will try your advice
