Just starting out

I started the C25K about 2 weeks ago now. I'm a total beginner and have been repeating week 1 until I can run all of the 1 minute sections before moving on to week 2. I found in my first week I had really sore lower legs but, I've now added more stretching and low impact activity into my rest days and got some good shoes from the running shop and that's helped a bit. I've definitely found it easier in the second week and I'm running more of the sections now too. I've even started enjoying it haha! Got my 6th run tonight- wish me luck!

Congratulations on starting C25K and welcome to the forum. Week 1 is the hardest week of them all, many of us haven't run for a long time and it can be quite a shock to the system causing aches and soreness.

Just stick with it, aches and soreness are fine, pain is not, I've never agreed with the term no pain no pain, pain is the body's way of telling you something is wrong, listen to it.

Take all the runs slow and steady, jog/slow run at a pace where you can hold a conversation without gasping, I know the first week may be difficult but never be afraid to slow down a little more, even if you end up 'running' slower than you walk - as long as you have the running motion you're fine.

Aim to complete all the runs but more importantly, try to enjoy all the runs you do.

Good luck and I'm glad you're starting to enjoy it 😊👍

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You are doing the right thing repeating until you can complete all the intervals, but when you manage it all, move bravely on.

You can do this.

Slow slow slow then you'll make all the runs, it's not a race, speed and distance are NOT important. Enjoy

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The whole jogging down the road thing is addictive!

Well done LtoL do this entirely at your own pace . It’s so addictive if you don’t believe me now you will in a few weeks!! It’s the best decision I ever made! Good luck and go as slow as you need to 😊
