Had a nice slow run this morning. It was tough to start with, but eased off about half way through and got into a good rhythm. The last 5 mins I spent looking around for a lost dog somebody had mentioned as I passed them - not sure what I would have done if I’d found it - run round it in circles till time was up maybe?
I have a bit of an issue with my left Achilles. It has played me up permanently long before I started this plan. Now I’m finding it sore whilst running, now the runs have started getting longer. I’ve bought a support for it and wore today. It helped, but was still got sore during the run, but has eased off after stretching.
I just hope it doesn’t get any worse. It’s one of the reasons why I decided not to do any running whilst away next week, though we do tend to walk a lot when we’re on holiday. Does anybody else have this problem?

I can just imagine you running round the dog 😂😂🐕. If you're are in pain you'd be better to stop running, just for now. As you say you're going on holiday and won't be running so that may be a good thing. Good luck and well done 😊😊
I was told by another runner that external supports, such as strapping, make you feel more confident, but don't necessarily help the injury. I have no idea whether that's true, maybe one the the more experienced runners on here can advise?
Yes me on my right leg but don’t know if it was when I fell of the pavement 😂did w5r1 today with it got to 2.5k then felt it hurt so more stretching and more ice and think I have a extra days rest before next run 😡
Still laughing at you running round dog. Sounds like it may be time to ask gp or sports physio to check out your Achilles- it's not an injury you want as there is a long convalescence. Good luck, keep us posted.
I’ve had Achilles pain for months, long before I started this and just thought it was age. But it’s beginning to get worse with these longer runs. I’ve contacted my GP surgery online, and I’m waiting for them to get back to me. I will be devastated if I have to stop, because I love it 😫
Maybe not stop, people still run after surgery which you are not at. Push for proper physio on it. Doctors should all be supportive of our quest for fitness, a spot of physio is far cheaper than very many interventions they would have to pay for if we all protected our joints and tendons by leading a sedentary life.
Great, and you've Barcelona as a great rest time. Wrap up warm for that, it's not always glorious sunshine there. Multi day travel pass worth lookiinto, covers trams and buses
REST that Achilles now. Pain is always a warning signal not to be ignored. Enjoy your holiday & if it’s still niggling on your return get it seen to. (Lots of stretch and flex while you are away!!)
I have one word for you: physio! In my experience GPs tend not to have the expertise so will err on the safe side and say stop. Whereas a physio understands how the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone etc and will help zero in on the problem, what is causing it, and what management/rehab the injury requires.
Thanks for the advice. The GP I consulted specialises in the muscular skeletal area, which is why I chose her. But I hear you, and if it’s still not improving when I get back from jollies on 28th, I’ll contact her again. They are pretty good at referring, as I’ve had a physio referral several times before - I’m a right old crock!
