So I just completed my first run of week 1. Wow, it was harder than I expected BUT I did it. I have asthma, I am very over weight and generally unfit and I never saw myself finishing the first session! I am feeling very proud of myself right now and I'm excited to give run 2 a go on Sunday!
First run done!: So I just completed my first... - Couch to 5K
First run done!
Congratulations Runnerinprogress, you deserve to be very proud of yourself on completing run 1 of week 1 of C25K, well done, some say that run is the hardest run of the whole program,
Welcome to the forum and C25K, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 1, remember to take all your runs slow and steady, keep ridgidly to the program, no running on consecutive days, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to,😊🏃🏾 I hope you enjoy all your runs. 🏃🏾
Congratulations and glad you are enthusiastic about run 2. Keep tabs on how your asthma is coping with your new routines and check in with your asthma nurse if there are any issues over correct meds. Enjoy
Great for getting started, just go slow and slower again if needed and remember to drink lots of water per day and not just on run days about 2-3 litres it really helps.
Do you take your inhaler with you ?
C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here good luck 😊😊
Congratulations on getting started! You’ll soon be whizzing through the weeks! Enjoy it x
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Enjoy your journey.
Well done, a brilliant achievement! 🤗
I can relate to everything you wrote and I’m feeling very pleased that I managed to complete my 2nd run tonight and that it did feel that little bit easier than the 1st run.
Keep going, I think you’ve done the most courageous part and stepped out for that first run! 💪🏻👍🏻
Well done 👏 . You did the hardest bit when you put your running shoes on and left your house. You can do this!
Congratulations on starting C25K, my wife is currently on week 9 run 2 (today) and she is asthmatic too, take your inhaler as you do, keep your head up, back straight and shoulders back to give you the best possible lung capacity.
Just take it slow and steady, when the trainer says get ready to run, think more along the lines of a jog, the aim is to get to the end of each run no matter what speed you go at.
Post up regularly and we'll try to give you as much encouragement and advice as you need.
The main things are to trust the program, believe in yourself and most importantly, enjoy each run as much as you can.
Running will change your life.
That’s really interesting Lee, what you say about shoulders back, etc. I also have asthma but my running style is head-down-hunch-into-the-wind!
Next time I go out I’ll adjust my posture and see if I fare better.....it’s common sense when you think about it!
Well done. I’m repeating week 1 this week as I also found it hard. I cried like a baby when I started my first run and then again when I finished. It hasn’t stopped my though and I’m looking forward to trying again on Sunday 🏃🏼♀️
That's brilliant!...I am going to do my first run today...bit nervous. Feel same as you did probably. But I reckon we can do it if we just take each step at a time....fantastic achievement today! Well done!
Weldone on getting out and starting. I found getting going the hardest but once I realised I can go as slow as I need (and I am slow!) I found the run length increases easier. I’ve a muscle weakness condition and I’m on week 7 run 3 (25 mins) so I do appreciate the challenge for many of us. My advice, take it sloooow. Once your fitness and leg strength increases you’ll naturally find your pace, but till then, it’s all about just keeping going. Good luck x
Well done run 1 is the hardest! Welcome from a fellow asthmatic, channel your inner 🐌. This plan and forum are amazing!
Well done. I’ve just completed Wk2Run1 and felt elated at the end. I did Wk1 runs 2&3 again as I was dreading running more than a minute but, hey, I did it. You can too. Keep st it
Brilliant well done stick with the programme it definitely works will look forward to hearing about your progress.
Well done. You'll be doing longer runs before you know it x
Well done to you - I think everyone finds it hard so you’re not alone! Just believe in the program and you’ll be graduating before you know it. Some of us take more than 9 weeks but who’s counting!! It’s the goal that’s import. Good luck.
