Decided that my new years resolution would be to try and run a marathon by the end of the year. So, I downloaded C25K last night and just did my first run. I done it on my treadmill, with a running pace of 8km and a walking pace of 5km. Feels so good to have finally done something positive for myself
First run done!: Decided that my new years... - Couch to 5K
First run done!
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
A marathon in a year is possible, but don't try to rush things. The solid base that C25K begins to build is important and with your target the discipline of sticking to a training plan is crucial.
Enjoy your journey.
That’s a big goal... possible, but hard... that’s a good kind of goal in my book. Don’t put too much pressure on it, if marathon happens this year it happens, if not it will do at some point, that’s the most important thing. Great job on run one.
Kinda annoying that people are already saying it’s a big goal, it’s hard, don’t rush etc. anything is possible if i put my mind to it and i wish people would just leave it at that 🤦🏽♀️
People are only talking from experience, if you push too hard too quickly you could end up injuring yourself. All anyone on here wants is for you to have an enjoyable journey without having to sit on the IC (injury couch) for ages and never be able to reach your goal. Enjoy your journey and happy running 🏃♀️

I understand your frustration at the comments but everyone is truly just looking after your best interests. A couch to marathon in a year is do-able for some, so best of luck on your goals. Keep posting and let us know how it gets on. As you go through and finish the C25k program and build up your distances, there is a bridge to 10k forum and a marathon and race support forum you can join as well and get lots of great advice and support as needed.
