I KNOW AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED A FLY....

W5R3 - Lordy that was hard! I remember from last year that there was a run that was going to take me completely by surprise but I couldn’t remember where 🤔

I usually run first thing so was risking it a bit to go out at 3.30 with no lunch but I worry about eating beforehand. It didn’t help when I swallowed a fly ( at least I think it was a fly! ) Made me cough and splutter a bit, especially going up hill. However that’s another one done and apparently the rest of the runs are going to be as long. Just hope I feel better during the next one - my breathing seems to be a bit fast so I don’t find it easy to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth - any tips?

Oh heck, I’ve got that run on Friday, got to do R2 first tomorrow. There was a tip in an earlier podcast from Laura where she said when running, breathe in slowly for 4 steps and then out slowly for 4 steps. Easier said than done especially if you get out of breath, so I run like a snail! I try to deep breath during the walks, but that only works when you have the intervals of course🙄

Yes, Michael suggested that too ( I suspect they all do ) and you’re right - it ain’t easy 🥵

I think it wasn’t easy for me because I prefer to run in the morning. I just feel as if I have more energy at the start of the day - you’ll be fine! I’ll be watching for your report!

Great you've now completed wk5r3. Can you count that fly as your lunch 😂

If you're breathing too fast , you're running too fast. Slow it right down and if you do you may fit in some nose breathing. It just takes some practice . I can do it now , not for a full run but some of it and it really helps.

Well done you 😊😊

Thanks Buddy34 for that piece of advice. I feel like I’m running quite slowly and if I slow down much more I’ll stop but I’ll give it a go and let you know!

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, that fly they say is protein, no harm done.

Onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran. 😊

Hey well done for persevering and oh dear at the fly, slow down as everyone says, let your breathing be whatever it wants i mostly breath through my mouth with my teeth close together to stop insects, i’m an afternoon runner and it throws me if i run in the morning, good luck with the next run, and however slow you think you are there’s always slower til you can just plod on to the end

Thanks! I seem to breathe through my mouth too (obviously!) I’ll try on my next run to slow it down and see how I get on. Watch this space! 😉
