Week 7 run 3 sore hips!

Week 7 run 3 completed last night but wow it was a struggle compared to previous runs...strange considering this is the 4th 20 minute run in the programme. Not sure why I struggled with it but did notice I had sore hips! Very stiff achy ones. Now I am 42, a couple of stone heavier than I should be, and have had the ocassional sore knee during the programme but sore hips was new to me! Any reason why that would be? Dehydrated perhaps? Also hadn't run since Saturday so I'm wondering if it's just been too long. Felt slightly disheartened since I didnt enjoy this run...but I completed it nonetheless, and at a good pace according to strava! Onwards and upwards to week 8 👍

Well done.

It won't be the delay in running, but it could well be the cumulative effect of your running if your shoes are not up to scratch. There is a link to a guide to buying shoes in the guide to the plan.

As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Thanks, you've hit the nail on the head...I'm not drinking! I'm a big coffee drinker and struggle to drink water for some odd reason. So now that I'm running I guess I'm getting more dehydrated than usual. So, that's it, I need to crack this bad habit and get drinking! Thank you x

Thanks, needless to say I've been drinking more water this last couple of days and no sore hips in today's run👍

I had sore hips when I started out. I found concentrating on my posture, core body exercises and yoga helped. 👍

Thanks for that. I was actually thinking yoga would be good addition to my new fitness regime so I'll look at how to get started👍
