W4, R1: I seem to like running when it's cold ...

Wow, that was an awful lot of gremlins having a fight in my head this morning! (And, I must admit it, some quite prudent voices as well).

"Go out and jog at 0 degrees? Is she mental??" shouted the loudest one of them. "Of course she will", replied the one that looks after my finances, "wasn't that the reason she bought gloves and a neckwarmer yesterday?" "But her throat already feels like she is getting a cold" said the health gremlin. "Yes, but if she doesn't run this morning, she'll have to postpone it to tomorrow, because this afternoon the park will be full of Halloween-people" said the next one (the one that wears glasses and always reads the newspaper).

In the end, thinking of a reply I got yesterday from useitorloseit , I went out and did it - W4, R1. Found it quite challenging, but I really enjoyed that it was cold. I got warmer eventually, but not too hot, the perfect conditions for me. And after all, the sun was shining!

I hope that over time my legs will get a bit stronger, though. The uphill parts were quite tough ... But all in all: I'm on week 4 now! ☺️

The forecast says we will have 14 degrees and rain this weekend. Can't wait to hear what the gremlins have to say about that. 😉

🤣 The wimpy gremlin will tell you not to get wet ☔️ & the other gremlins will all agree loudly, but you will embrace the rain because it will drown the little beasts !! 😂

Congratulations! But uphill! That would kill me! I'm doing my W4 on the flat and am coping quite well. Well done again!

Well, maybe others would say that it's not that much uphill ... But it's quite uphill to me!

Anything not flat is a hill! I live in Wales which has, it seems, no flat bits at all. I learnt to run in Cambridgeshire - now that wad REALLY flat. I do a lot of run/walking now or I'd expire!!

RunawayBetty, thanks for such an amusing & uplifting post, and well done on completing W4 R1, you are now officially more than one third through to the end!

Fantastic! Love the characters 🤣

Any uphills will make you a stronger runner in the long run, your legs will adjust I promise you 💪🏻👍🏻😁

Great post! And very well done on the run, and I know what you mean about the aching legs - thank goodness for rest days! 😁

Exactly! I think I could never persuade my legs to run on rest days. 😉

Great post. I absolutely love the cold weather to run in, so refreshing. The summer heat whacks me out completely. As for the hills, well done! And you know what? Keep at the programme and soon enough you won’t even notice them. They’re great for fitness and there’s a real sense of achievement when you get to the top! Happy running

Least your gremlins seem to have a slight sense of humour. Mine are all miserable buggers that want to stay in bed until I have to rush to get ready for work!!!
